About time BBC One updated their identity?

It's been five years since the idents were last changed. Are there any rumours abound as to a refresh? Or is Chris Patten's purse-string tightening going to make any chance of it happening void?

Rather than asking if there are any rumours about a refresh or new look, why not try starting some rumours yourself? This is your first post and it was such a missed opportunity. You could have pretended to be an insider. I know if I had my first post all over again, I would have started a rumour about Catchphrase coming back with Roy Walker.

Welcome to the forum anyway.

What's Chris Patten got to do with anything? He's only been at the BBC for a few months and is chairman of the BBC Trust

He's at the forefront of plans to reign in spending. I assume he would have a veto on any such plans or indeed enough influence to prevent it happening. I just remember the furore last time they updated their idents and that was in the noughties boom!

Sounds like a good theory. I imagine there might be a BBC News identity refresh when they move buildings as has been planned for several years!

I'd think it very likely we'll see something new for the Olympics here - if they were happy to produce one when the event was held over the other side of the world in 2000, then one could assume 2012 will be similarly marked with a special symbol of some sort. But without any dodgy editing on the end shot, of course...

Me three!

Hate the current bland identity (yes, bland, not brand) - it does nothing to give the channel a strong, bold look to set it apart. It's wishy-washy, it's too generic - I hate it.

Not quite, maybe touching up, but not a refresh, the virtual set walls are designed that way for a reason Wink
