New BBC ONE Ident in Jan 2006?

When it was announced that the creators of the famous central branding had been comissoned to rebrand BBC1, they said the channel would rebrand early 2006.

They could do one last ident before they bring in the new ones... at hand over to News 24 on the last night, they could use Capoeira and have a gunshot sound effect on the end and the dancers falling off the roof... or just simply have them both falling off the edge of the building!

........ OK... who spiked my orange juice with the silliness drugs then?

Err.... that was a wind-up!

If anything is "in the can" that has never been used, it would be a shame not to. If only to stop us getting bored with the usual selection!

I want to see the clock that was made but never shown.

That is the design that we were to create on the clock generators before Marketing decided not to use a clock, a couple of weeks before the last rebrand.

There aren't any other pics. That's what it would have looked like. The background is static.

As Mark said, there are no more pics, but the clock in London was changed over to the new design and happily ticking away just after the rebrand, even though we knew there were no plans to use it.

and the balloon clock continues to tick in Belfast, it's just not available to the mixers anymore. If a clock is ever reintroduced, the graphics will be updated.
