New BBC One ident

Blue would be a welcome change but it would be too serious for a flagship channel these days.
Yellow would be nice, but it would copy 2006-era ITV(1)

I've always associated blue with ITV more than yellow. Guessing to do with the 1999-2006 logo(s)

Green?

Wasn't BBC ONE's colour supposed to be a shade of purple and TWO was teal back in the 1991 rebrand? They never seemed to use it on screen though.

Does the channel need such a specific colour though? ITV and Channel 4 don't really have specific colours and rely on a strong logo more to identify themselves. Could BBC One not do similar?

Red seems like the ‘BBC’s colour’ considering their news branding is all red and their main channel. I do agree though, a new colour would be better.

I actually wrote to the BBC about the fact that One and News were both red! I don't think orange would be too bad, as it would keep a similar color scheme while introducing something new.

The News red is a different shade to the One red so they can somewhat get away with it. BBC Three and iPlayer both use pink and isn't any qualms about that.

Three and iPlayer are also both online-only, probably the pink is to mark that.
