As to Asa's comment about why not /news24 ... I would imagine it's because the brand is BBC News 24 and they want to reinforce that in every way.

In which case - if people can see it's 'bbc.co.uk', why are we required to type 'bbc' in twice?
Smile Seems slightly confusing for someone, if they have to guess the URL.

Just to let everyone know that I asked BBC News 24 last night to put a profile up for Chris Eakin, and hey presto, one's appeared. He was actually brought up just across the Mersey from me on the Wirral!!

Even his profile is tongue-in-cheek!

His first job was trading in second-hand goods at the markets of North West England. Despite selling 200 British Rail lost property umbrellas on one dry, sunny day it was an unpromising six months.

If that's the case, why does BBC World get www.bbcworld.com, BBC Prime get www.bbcprime.com then?

They are not ones promoted inside the in UK (the only time I think they appear on screen is at the very end of World Business Report and Asia Today) There was talk on bbcnews.com but they wanted to stick with bbc.co.uk/news so that everyone got used to bbc.co.uk

This might have something to do with News 24's new business show, Business Today, every weeknight at 8:30pm
