I was going to suggest a News 24 ident after the countdown and before the headlines the other day, but I though I would get bombed into submission for saying such a thing, like I did when I suggested BBC News Reports should have short stings - which BBC World do have by the way. (They use the overnight sting with Breaking News under it!)
But, a very good idea!
Another suggestion, I think overnight, instead of playing the News 24 ident at *.30, they should do a similar one with the BBC News Overnight tune, it would be very good!
Some of the pictures on the site are very old - in fact the one of the gallery that was mentioned is not actually News 24's current gallery ... it's the one used by BBC World as so was taken in the old 'flags' era when News 24 came from what is now BBC World. Although the galleries look basically the same.
Especially when you look at other digital channel addresses:
bbc.co.uk/choice
bbc.co.uk/knowledge
even bbc.co.uk/parliament redirects to the BBC Parliament section (although hasn't been updated in years by the look of it!)
Why not bbc.co.uk/news24 ?
BBC Online seem to have been doing some daft things recently. There was one URL advertised onscreen, that just gives a 404 error message and even 'Residents' on BBC Two has a webaddress with 'the' stuck in front of it. Why?!
I would promote the site on the news 24 ident, where BBC NEWS would normally be.
You may have seen that they've started to plug the website on air .. for example promoting election coverage during the news summaries (I saw it at 2.30pm).
