I think your right as Wednesday night seems a strange time to launch a new graphics package. Don't these things usually start on a Monday morning?

Four Mondays left in July... you could do a lucky 15 bet...

There was a tweet which alluded to 'mid July' which was then swiftly deleted.

If I were a betting man... I'd still not place money on the 15th!

Exactly! Just remember the amount of people who thought 'Oneness' was going to be ditched after a year.

I don't know, would we really be in for a surprise on other BBC networks come July 15th or later/earlier? Probably not.

Reith- Britain's most berwildering situation since Brexit. It's been years since it was initially announced, some people want it and some don't, and nobody knows when it is going to happen. Laughing

And when it does happen it will probably be a disaster and everyone will hate it.

As has been pointed out several times by way of an explanation as to why it’s “taking so long” (according to some contributors on here) it’s very hard to test such a fundamental change on live equipment. It’s hard enough in the regions where studios are only on air for a few hours a day, it’s very hard to configure and test in a suite of galleries that are providing 24/7 news across multiple channels. There are, naturally, the existing styles and the new ones living side by side on everyone’s systems at the moment with on air use of one and testing and tweaking of the other. Recent airings have been accidental, for many reasons, and have combined the formatting of the existing straps with the style of the new ones. Masks on vision mixers (existing style) have been out of alignment with the new style straps hence the locator and picture credit issues.
You can extrapolate plenty from last nights unintentional airing I’m sure but it’s not the whole picture.

I hear all you're saying deejay, but the BBC has updated its graphics before - when it was running the same amount of services, if not more - and we've not had stuff happen like this.

The only reason I can guess at is that the massive budget cuts to BBC News mean less people to do the work, causing more stress and more mistakes.

It's such a shame the world's most important news broadcaster had been crippled so.

The last big change to the on-screen graphics, was in 2013, and that coincided with the move to Broadcasting House. So the testing happened off site, with new equipment - whilst N6 and N8 continued on air.

And if people remember, we had a while of News Channel overnights coming from NBH with the new graphics and look, while daytimes came from TVC with the old look.
