1 more sleep? Or is it all lies and misinformation?

It really is strange why Reith is being implemented in drips and drabs.

A full on rebrand would be so much more efficient.

No, it would be the opposite, having to create all new designs corporation wide, then update all the systems and launch them all in one go, you'd need a huge amount of manpower compared to tackling one elegant at a time. Plus the risks of something going wrong are much higher.

What's the latest date that Reith might be put into use do you think?

A full scale rebrand seemed to go smoothly in 1997.

But was that the most efficient way of implementing the new look? That's the point I was responding to.

They'd probably rebrand at 6am UK time, not midnight. Also, World and News won't necessarily change at the same time, which could mean old graphics on simulcast programmes (such as Newsday) even after the change.

If I recall, the last major change to the NC happened at 1pm when the move from TVC to BH happened.

Am I the only one to say this...?

ITV seemed to do it fairly easily. Organisation isn’t as large, but still did it with the flick of a switch near enough.

Large organisations roll out their new identities all the time; full scale rebrands, splits and mergers, significant and minor revisions. Planning goes into it, soft launches are done in obscure places to try and break the deployment, they have backout plans.

Only complex organisations fail to do this in one sweep, and choose to do it in phases, which I can accept. Only badly managed ones do this, then let snippets leak before that ‘business unit’ rebrands, therefore messing up the project plan.

The argument that “this is broadcast and it’s a high pressure environment” doesn’t really wash when there are organisations with higher pressure environments, larger organisations spread wider around the globe, and manage to execute a taks like this with ease.

What baffles me is that this is only a font deployment, not a total rebrand/refresh. This is system config, with new looks attached optionally, not mandatory.

EDIT: ‘Organisations’ include public bodies, like the BBC, so don’t try rolling out that old argument Rolling Eyes
