The mock was done better
Is that not a mock that was done here?
Impressive as ever Bail, I agree with some about it being not too dissimilar to the current look, but that is believable going by the BBC's record on evolving the BBC News branding.
This is what I am expecting, at least from the logos - but I would hope for some nice use of BBC Reith Serif on-screen with more interesting typography, as well as slightly larger typefaces.
But the design as presented is certainly rich and detailed - as well as containing elements from the original 1999 look like those rings, and the digits counting up.

I'd assumed the reason the delay in change to Reith on the news pages was because it was being incorporated into new layouts, or they were coordinating the change with changes on TV.
But it would appear the changes to the World pages, etc. are no more than a change of font in the stylesheet.
So why is it taking so long to change the font across the news section? I've changed it in the Firefox inspector on my screen for the England homepage in less than 30 seconds...

It's only the main pages though isn't it - the story pages are still in the old font.
And now so are Science, Health, Family & Education and Entertainment & Arts. Looks like it's rolling out.

These pages with Reith also use the wider layout, so I think its more the fact those sections are getting the wider layout, than they are moving to Reith. Sections like Politics are still using the narrow layout.
There is a larger project to re-engineer the News Online system, and that will obviously use Reith by default.

There are pages with the wider layout still not using Reith though - News homepage, video & audio and Newsbeat.
I don't get why they're updating any pages to Reith if they've got a new design coming soon. Why not do it all together?

I’d use some mapping software save the css file and change the font to Reith job done

Its more than just a new design AFAIK - Its backend changes, and changes that will become part of the mobile apps.

Still doesn't mean it can't be launched alongside Reith.
It truly is a woeful roll-out branding-wise. We've had
- Sport fully launched in one go (why can they do it and nobody else!)
- iPlayer going over to Reith online but not on apps
- a new Weather provider and website which wasn't in Reith
- Reith on Victoria Derbyshire and Impact but no other BBC News output
- BBC Cymru in Reith Serif
- BBC News family & education in Reith Sans
- several other BBC News pages in Reith Sans with the main page in the old font
It's a complete mess which has lasted over 2 years!
