BBC Sport's social media pages does not have the new logo yet. It still has the old one when I had looked using Chrome on Windows. Also; when I zoomed in at 500% on Chrome; The BBC blocks logo is very distorted and the SPORT from the BBC Reith typeface looks as clear as day. I wonder what the BBC Reith will look like when the BBC blocks logo is updated. I assume it will get the same result.

The BBC adopting their new BBC Reith font, is like when IKEA ditched Futura for Verdana.
It just looks safe, average, devoid of character. Great for displaying body text in a clear way, but Headings, and Branding needs something more, something distinctive.

Because the BBC logo is a 84 x 24 PNG, so it should do, unless they change it to an SVG, but the SPORT part is text, also the BBC logo is not changing at all.

I guess one bonus when it is applied to News is that it will make it harder for people to produce fake BBC web pages, which has been a problem for years now.

Harder in what way?
Well face it: nobody's going to carelessly share fake news if it is written in the wrong font, are they.
Nothing particularly remarkable about either font, which is to be expected. At last the BBC will have a typeface that clearly distinguishes between 1, l and I though!
I think that was probably the main driver behind the change. It's not exactly aesthetically pleasing is it. But extremely clear and easy to read.
