Channel 4 Newsreader Jon Snow is in the running to host BBC2's Maestro- or "Proms Idol"- where celebrities will compete to conduct an orchestra.

Eight stars will learn how to wield the baton and the winner will take charge of an orchestra during The Last Night Of The Proms at the Royal Albert Hall next year.

Had this been ITV there would be so much backlash, but because its the BBC I doubt there will be much

how is this a "reality show" ? Surely it's a talent contest.

Talent shows are classed as reality TV

I don't think it would have been backlash; more shock that ITV would be able to produce a programme that requires its participants to have a degree of intelligence and a presenter that doesn't have the names Ant or Dec.

Are you attempting to take over Andrew's job? He won't be happy, y'know...

That has just perfectly proven my point. Ant & Dec aren't on hardly anything anymore, and ITV has reality shows that require skill rather than intelligence.

I think your point would be proven no matter what was said.

This show strikes me as a channel 4 show more than anything and it is unlikely to be produced in a glossy studio format such as x factor.

Also I notice you've glossed over the scathing criticism dished out at dancex a few posts below this one.

There's very little that isn't classed as 'reality TV' in some quarters these days, when very little actually is in the classic sense. Talent shows certainly aren't, there isn't any thing 'real' about a TV show, unless they have a reality element - Pop Stars and Fame Academy - Reality TV... X Factor and Come Dancing - not reality

This doesn't really sound like a talent show, more 'In at The Deep End'

I can't see Jon Snow hosting something like this, firstly because it sounds crap, and secondly, he's pretty exclusive to C4.

Put The Telly On
Yet another BBC celebrity talent show which this time will no doubt feature Jennie Bond trying to tune a Cello....yawn.
