Same here. Only watched bits before, been watching every episode of this series. I think it’s clear the format is king here. Yeah, the ratings are a bit lower but that would have been the case whatever with the move to Channel 4.

It was really endearing to see Sandi visibly upset by the loss of today’s contestant. Not sure I’ve ever seen anything like that on a show like this before. Really genuine and humanising.

Indeed, I commented to the other-half about Sandi's tears too.

I think they’ve played a blinder with this series. Sandi and especially Noel are brilliant.

Pru lacks the warmth of Mary.

The adverts are getting annoying now. More noticeable now there’s fewer bakers left for some reason.

Also as a sidenote I've only just spotted that since Bake Off started BBC's The Big Family Cooking Showdown quietly changed from being on Tuesdays to Thursdays, thereby avoiding a scheduling clash.

Didn't you see all the BBC reporting on Bake Off stealing it's slot by moving from Wednesdays to Tuesdays, and the complete failure of all BBC reports to mention that BBC1 were airing Celebrity Masterchef in the "traditional" Wednesday night slot anyway.

Actually MasterChef was moved to 9pm that week. It only switched back to 8pm the week after Bake off started.

Pretty impressive I’d say.

I thought this was the first week Sandi fitted in for me. Peviously she has seemed a bit of a spare part in comparison to Noel.

I think hiring a Mary Berry clone would have been worse but I'm still not a big Prue fan but at least she isn't as temperamental as she was on My Kitchen Rules UK last year.

40% fall in a year isn't that great. Both Benefits street and Gypsy Weddings showed C4 can get huge 8 to 10m ratings so I'm not sure why the biggest show on television (2014,2015) is being let off with such low expectations especially with a massive price tag.

The audience hasn't built across the run either and the lack of actual live viewing won't impress the advertisers. So I wouldn't be surprised if product placement is far away in regards the ingredients in future series.
It isn't a disaster but it certainly isn't impressive

Well there isn’t much they can do about ads, people are always going to complain especially when there wasn’t any before.

I think Pru comes across really well personally and I’ve enjoyed watching other appearances since she was announced as a judge. She’s delightful. Of course it may be harder to warm to someone after watching years of Bake Off with Mary but I think they made the right casting.

I think Bake Off have certainly done better casting Pru as a replacement for Mary than The Apprentice did with Margaret and later Nick. The newer advisors have none of the charm in my opinion and have weakened that show. Karen Brady should have certainly have been fired a long time ago.

Karren Brady was there when the series had its highest ratings; Claude has been there since the very start in the capacity of interviewer, so people knew what to expect from him.

I think the only problem with Claude is he actually seems quite tame as an advisory compared to his interview stint! At least the UK version has remained fairly stable in terms of the panel, on the US version Trump had tons and tons of different people towards the end, from his own family to former contestants to industry 'experts'!
