"Here we go, big advertising slot, come on, call the number 0904 you have to push 1, good luck if you geddit, come on, its a ad slot on prime-time Channel 4, yours for two £400k notes, good return, 0904 25, I love this Marina isn't it stunning", etc often accompanied by some camp walking and a faceplant. Rinse and repeat.

"Not only is it ebay, not is only is it on prime time. Not only, you're dialling the number 0904 251. It's £40 today! (not mentioning it's the easy pay price or mentioning the full price)"

Would love to see a breakdown of those figures throughout the show.

6.52 million for Bake Off last night - the highest ratings Channel 4 has seen in quite some time! Obviously a lot lower than when it was on the BBC, will be interesting to see where things go from here, as last year's final was seen by something like 13 million people, wasn't it? If this year's final sees any sort of boost from 6 million then I can only imagine how happy Channel 4 will be!

Unsurprisingly the BBC are leading with the lower figure of 5.8 million. It seems a bit spiteful of them.

You can see the huge drops during the ad breaks, but the breaks all rated over 5m.

If it stays at 5-6m channel 4 Will be happy, will the final get near the 10m Mark?

This kind of proves this isn't a bbc show.

It doesn't prove it isn't a BBC type show, it proves it is a successful show with some already successful series and a strong format, it felt to me like a BBC show on Channel 4. It was curiousity why people tuned in last night and I reckon it may have a bit of a dip maybe down to 5 million in the next few weeks however I think it will be Channel 4 biggest show by far and away by the end of the year and honestly I still enjoyed it.

It didn't not feel like a C4 show, it just felt a little odd. That said it did prove that the stars of the show are the contestants their creations and the 'jeopardy' between the two. It's always been so well edited and constructed and that's what makes it so good. Even though Mel and Sue did add something to the mix and they are missed, they weren't as essential as people thought.

The other thing is that the breaks didn't feel crowbarred in, the way they went to them I thought was great, especially that all important first break

Exactly, it proves the important part of Bake Off has always been the contestants and their bakes.

I thought Noel was brilliant. Very similar to Mel I thought. I barely even noticed Sandi though.

Probably highlights why The X Factor is now struggling - they've forgotten the contestants are supposed to be the real star of the show.

It's quite funny seeing everyone suddenly change their tune. For the past year Channel 4 has had a barrage of abuse and comments that it won't be the same without Mary Berry, Mel and Sue.

They have the potential to be good but they felt a little wooden last night. Which is to be expected on day one of course, they're not an established double act with history and chemistry
