Promote the new series most likely.
The ident's exactly the same as the usual one apart from superimposing the cast of 8 Simple Rules on top of it. They did the same thing to promote their moving to channel 185 on Sky in the week before the EPG reshuffle of Feb 28th.
Anyway the ident isn't run at every junction - seems to be random at the moment.

Did you spot the short trails where the abc1 logo morphs into a logo with 'apr' and the US President's crest on a red background? What could that be for? I thought West Wing, but doesn't 4 / More4 hold the rights to that at the moment? Unless it's an early series of course.

Ta. I'd guessed the apr bit no worries, just wasn't sure on the actual series.
