You can add to the "Why aren't these repeated? It's that Bliar government and asylum seekers, it is!" list Jam ...
Jam's been repeated a couple of times (more if you count E4 I think).

And I don't think The Goodies is any more dated that two other 1970s sitcoms that get repeated to death on BBC2, namely The Good Life and Some Mother Do 'Ave 'Em.

It is a lot more dated than both of those because of the comtemporary references e.g. nationwide spoofs and topical references. Also and the visual effects which now look pretty naff in parts

The Good LIfe stands up really well today, even the fashions are fairly neutral and the scripts are timeless. Another example is Porridge - that stands up incredibly well nowadays but then like The Good Life it takes place in a very limited arena

Add Mrs Merton and Malcolm to that list. That was a great show, I think it was shown on BBC1 which was obviously a mistake as it didn't suit the channel at all.

Yes, that seems to have been written out of TV history (and Carolines/Craigs CV) now. I liked it too, but I could see why it might have been deemed a mistake

Don't know if one-offs count, but legendary hoax Ghost***ch certainly has never been repeated on any channel.

Who put the twát in Ghostwátch! Probably the same person who named Scúnthorpe...

Actually most dramas on ITV1, and to a lesser degree BBC1, never get a second airing on the channel - or even their spin-off channels.

It's really annoying with ITV1 especially who will repeat the same Bond / Die Hard films ad-nausiem but won't give even a second showing to some of their highly acclaimed drama premieres.

Most drama series never get a repeat airing either - the only original dramas ITV1 repeat are the detective shows like Frost, Morse etc.

Well, The Crystal Maze has. It was a regular fixture of The Bigger Breakfast when it launched in 1997, and I think had been part of the C4 school holiday line up before that.

How much I miss that show...the repetes do get a bit annoying though

Imagine what they should do these days with it. that would look spectacular

I agree, a relaunch now would be fantastic, of a show I thoroughly enjoyed in my youth. However, Richard O'Brien was, in my opinion, what made the show the hit that it was, and I felt the Tudor-Pole couldn't crack it. Bringing the format back to life with the 60-odd year old now is sadly, almost impossible.

Still, if I remembered, I used to make sure I tuned into Challenge at 4 on the dot to relive those glory days - such a pity that the show has now been rescheduled for early mornings. Why?!

Another amazing programme which has never been repeated and (sadly) isn't released on DVD is Cardiac Arrest.

Even if it aged badly it would be worth my watching as it was filmed in the closed sections of my local hospital (where my mum worked) and classmates from my school were in the opening credits!

Some programmes date quicker than others for varying reasons. Not The Nine O'Clock News has dated so much its virtually painful to watch in some parts.

The Goodies, from the clips that were on the recent special, looks a bit dated but the scenes shot on location look heavily dated; the studio stuff doesn't look too bad. However it doesn't any more dated than Some Mothers Do Have 'Em IMO.

I think it comes down in the end to what the original producers decided to do with their programmes; Porridge for example stands up good today as not a lot has really changed in the context of the programme since it was made and things today. Not The Nine was probably never designed to last more than a few months, never mind in excess of 25yrs. Some Mothers Do Have 'Em - well there's always going to be some screwup somewhere who breaks everything he or she touches so its still relevant.
