The Goodies was repeated on the Sky Comedy Channel in the early 90s. It made people realise that the fond memories were misplaced and that actually it was rubbish.

No it didn't. Don't ridiculously try and attatch your views onto everyone else.

Personally, I think The Goodies is fantastic, and it makes me laugh more than nearly anything else made in the last five years. That's just my opinion - I wouldn't dream of trying to make it look like it was the only one.

Would you care to point out where I suggested that "everyone" thought it was rubbish? It did make people think it was rubbish. By definition if more than one person thought it was rubbish as a result of it being shown again, my post is factually accurate.

What's your bad mood about then?

Wasn't the recent Goodies Night on BBC-2 deemed to be successful?

I don't have the figures to hand, but even if it was it wouldn't prove that the programmes have more than a novelty value, mainly because they have been so infrequently repeated (and because the programme was trailed to death in Christmas week).

Ad Nauseum IIRC. It was certainly repeated Ad Nauseum on UK Gold.

Knightmare - CITV programming/gameshows on ITV rarely get repeated

Seems to depend on the programme in question - if its been remade (Finders Keepers, Bernard's Watch, etc) the original is rarely seen again on any network.

The Crystal Maze - Reached a natural conclusion apparently so no need to repeat, just like Treasure Hunt

Interceptor supposedly was dropped for commercial reasons, though I dare say it wouldn't have lasted more than a full series due to the amount of preparation, organisation etc it needed as opposed to Treasure Hunt which was basically drop little bits of paper and write some clues.

I'm sure Five have picked this up on a repeat run, or was that the original run?

Yes, been repeated lots and is on Bravo fairly often

Most sitcoms get a repeat showing not long after they've gone out, normally in the summer)or just before the next series starts. It's a contractual thing, they pay for 2 showings.

The Goodies - Virtually banned since mid to late 80's

It's not been banned or even 'virtually banned'. It's dated very badly and had the problem that The Goodies signed for ITV after finishing on the BBC ruling out repeats for a few years after the series finished. If it had had regular repeats it might not be so hidden.

It's very big in Australia. Like Benny Hill - it's more popular abroad than in the UK

It got a repeat around the time Ronnie Barker retired, and has been on UK Gold.... it wasn't half as good as Ronnie's other work though so not really surprising it didn't get a repeat

Naked Video - Filler pap & low ratings

Hardly 'filler', It made the classic BBC2 Thursday at 9 comedy slot. You only have to look at Rab C Nesbit, the Hamlet adverts and 'Baldy Man' to see how big it was. It got it's normal repeat and I'd have thought that BBC Scotland would have repeated it a lot.

It's a good example of a programme being very dated. Like Three of a Kind and Not The Nine O Clock News they were made to be very contemporary, thus now they are stuck in the time they were made. Individual sketches and items stand up well as parts of compilations, but the whole programmes don't

Quiz and game shows very rarely get repeated at all (except on Challenge TV). I assume this is because once you've seen them you know who wins. They don't really hold out for repeat showings (other than novelty value 20 years later) and as most are very cheap TV companies might as well just make new ones

It was on the wrong channel, if it had been on channel 4 rather than ITV it would have lasted longer. There was less preperation needed for Interceptor - no studo, no clues; it was basically a freeform 'wide game' with helicopters

There were a few BBC repeats that aired after the ITV series - specifically I remember watching three repeats from the final BBC series on consecutive Sunday afternoons on BBC1 in January 1984. The last BBC repeat was 'Kitten Kong' on BBC2 in November 1986 as part of the TV50 season.

And I don't think The Goodies is any more dated that two other 1970s sitcoms that get repeated to death on BBC2, namely The Good Life and Some Mother Do 'Ave 'Em.

Why can't they just sallow their pride and repeat it from start to end in a regular slot on BBC2???

Why not??? Im 22 and the clips ive seen means I want to see it

Add Mrs Merton and Malcolm to that list. That was a great show, I think it was shown on BBC1 which was obviously a mistake as it didn't suit the channel at all.
