Were YTV still doing the trick of having the Chevron be part of the title sequence by the time frontcaps were removed? 3-2-1 and First Tuesday were good examples.
Well it featured in the logo for Bad Influence in the 90s, and if I'm not mistaken they stuck a chevron at the top of the iconic 90s countdown set hidden as if one of the page turns. I wonder if they managed to tuck their logo anywhere else down the years.
But Children's ITV would have been taken as a package from Central, even by YTV. So nobody would have seen a frontcap, if such existed.
Yeah that's what I meant - just that whatever was being fed out from Leeds appeared to still feature it given the pause, backing up the theory that YTV weren't trying too hard to edit out/avoid their existing frontcaps, even though in this case there was no way it would get to air. Just spent ages trying to find the clip but had no luck...
Staying with kids ITV, did the 'Watch It' era from 1982 till the change to 'Childrens ITV', still use the frontcaps?
Seem to remember an episode of 'Murphys Mob'(Central's then new football kids drama series) starting with Central's special 'News' frontcap by mistake!
Looking on other sites such as 'The Mausoleum Club', plus a copy of the 'Sapphire & Steel' DVD box set, it appeared a lot of what we know to be early Central stuff, was actually produced with ATV frontcaps & endcaps, but on transmission, appeared as Central stuff!
(The final 1982 Sapphire & Steel series had been produced before 1982 & sat on the shelf & got transmitted as Central, but the DVD release reveals they had ATV frontcaps & endcaps. 'Shine On Harvey Moon' 1st series was transmitted as Central, but the recent Yesterday repeats revealed some episodes had ATV on them!)
Was the first series of 'Murphys Mob' made with ATV frontcaps & endcaps, but had the Central ident transmitted live over the top?
That is the only reason I can see for the wrong Central ident being transmitted.
By the way, what's the story with the early Central idents being repeated in silence? How can you have a rights issue on ident music? Just imagine the outcry on here if the classic Thames ident went out silent!

I am not sure that this applies to the other companies, but Tyne Tees used to switch to their local source when playing out CITV programmes to the network -- this would be fairly obvious in a lot of cases as they'd sometimes fade through black when doing so. I even recall a couple of times prior to 1988 when they opted out early and showed their full ident.
Perhaps YTV did the same, I don't know.

This is one of the most ugliest CLOCK I have ever seen!

Many years later it was on the side of a notepad or something on Richard Whitely's desk. Though they also had a mug with the circles Channel 4 logo on the desk too

Programmes made by ATV but broadcast by Central had a 'Central Presents' caption preceeding the ATV ident. Schools programmes like Stop Look and Listen had this arrangement for a while I think

To be honest, I only saw 'Central Presents' on schools progs.
The peak time stuff was always Central. Did any peak time stuff ever get 'Central Presents'?
Even a 1983 repeat of 1981's kids series 'Vice Versa' had been 'Central'ed!

Yes, I'm only aware of the 'Central Presents' caption mixing into ATV front caps (and intact ATV endcaps) on schools programmes, and this lasted until the end of 1984. All ATV schools programmes were re-edited with Central caption at the start and end from 1985.
I think Crossroads very briefly had a 'Central Presents' caption at the start, in early 1982, but no ATV front cap or endcap. Most ATV stuff appeared to be rebranded 'live' which meant we sometimes saw or heard brief glimpses of ATV captions. One notable example was at the start of an episode of Family Fortunes, Central switched from their frontcap back to their IVC instead of the programme, so the whole network saw Mike Prince (or someone) getting up from his chair!
Back in 2002 when regional identities were scrapped in England and Wales. ITV1 Wales had separate continuity which was broadcast from Cardiff. When did playout move from Cardiff to LNN and why? Also, Are the any photos around that show what the Transmission Area at Culverhouse Cross looked like?, I cant seem to find any online. And what sort of systems were used to transmit the channel?

The reason was cost.
I think it was a phased thing - initially there was a dedicated presentation team but based at LNN, then they cut that but retained a separate feed with the Wales logo added, then that was reduced to Wales-only broadcasts (which I believe is where we are now?). Can't remember the timescale and could be wrong.

From what I remember presentation from Cardiff went to LNN in mid 2003, around the same time I believe when the Granada South regions went to LNN aswell. The announcers stayed at Cardiff until summer 2005 and then the rest went to London.
Greetings from the Border region, what used to be England's smallest, but most loyally supported, ITV region. With regard to endcaps, Border in the nineties used two pre the Hearts era: A BORDER PRESENTATION was used at the end of an imported non networked programme like A Country Practice and A BORDER PRODUCTION for locally produced programmes. Also Border adopted a jazzier shade of blue in the late eighties and replaced the Arial font with a more glamorous looking italicised font.
As for local and networked programming, going back to the eighties, Border took, as it was obliged to, TV-AM, Independent Television for Schools and Colleges( during term time, in school holidays it took its own schedule which always seemed to have Sesame St), ITN bulletins, sport and largely followed the Granada schedule from 7.00-10.30. Also as Border served southern Scotland, it took a large amount of Scottish programming such as Scotsport, Scottish football if STV had rights to a game, SNP conferences and the Moderator of the Church of Scotland's Christmas Message. Border was the only ITV region in England to show Take the High Road in peak time.
