Said Thread been archived, The hunt is still on for some odd ball places like Med/Anglia Night time CA from 1996-1998. of course other minor bits n bobs: but something has appeared:
Surprised with the LWT one, as that must've been made during the week, and not LWT's normal transmission time on ITV. Unless, LWT shows could be shown at anytime on C4.

Im sure C4 transmitted the Hale & Pace spin off 'The Management' midweek & H & P were under LWT contract at the time.
What I would like to know is did this replace Thames weekend news on Friday from Janurary 1988?
It did replace the Thames bulletin on Friday nights but when I'm not sure. If that's when the service started then it must have done. I know that it wasn't long before The 6 o Clock Show ended, which could well have been summer 88

Six O Clock show did get the axe in Summer of 1988, and was replaced in with Friday now and LWT news, but that was shorted lived and by following autumn of 1989, Six O Clock Live was created. Of course that was axed 4 months before London tonight, on 21 August. On 28 the LWT news was at 6pm but from 4th September it was moved back to 17.15 Here is a nice clip of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRCuhLtvjhY
Did they ever fix that awful cut / picture roll from Thames to Lwt that you see on the earlier clips?
That last one looked a lot better!
(I guess it completely went when Carlton took over as they transmitted from Lwt too?)

It would have been virtually impossible to have removed it, unless LWT were to have genlocked themselves to Thames, then applied the relevant delay to compensate for the timing difference as seen at the BT Tower between the two incoming sources.
The only other way would have been for BT to have had two frame syncs at the Tower, such devices didn't even exist until the late 70s, and who'd have paid for something only to used once a week anyway !?

Or you could have asked LWT to playout a recored ad and CA, from the end of CITV.

At some point the real switch (connecting LWT directly to Crystal Palace) would still have to be made though ?

So yes the last 6 months of The 6 o Clock Show had LWT News at the start of it. I remember watching the last handback from Andrew Gardener to Michael Aspel and they did reference it being the last time.

In 1989 they also had The Weekend Live which was continuity link for most of the weekend from a windowed studio in the tower. LWT News moved into there too and when Weekend Live ended, 6 O Clock Live moved into it as well
