There was also another need for that to be the case. Oracle's computer was in London, and the data was carried 24/7 on ITN's outward video circuits. So, if for instance Granada were feeding the network, they would data bridge the teletext data from ITN's incoming feed, into the network outgoing feed, and the other 14 regions would have teletext data during the programme. At each ITV company there would be a further data bridge that would take the data from the network feed, and bridge that onto the outgoing local transmitter feeds, so that data was present during local programmes and commercials. All explained in IBA Tech Review 20, pages 27-36.

That was only in the early days of Oracle though wasn't it?

I think I'm right in thinking that Oracle wasn't available during TVam at first for the same reason

That reminds me of a time when Reuters started doing the GMTV Northern Ireland news rather than UTV. This had the bizarre side-affect of viewers in Northern Ireland getting "LWT Plus" on page 600 from 6am-9:25, even during the week!

HTV used Culverhouse Cross as an IVC backdrop in the 80s too.

I remember the first time I watched Channel Television and found they had Meridian Text on P600, with CTV Text being on P200 oddly.

Does anyone know anything about the relationship between Granada and Border (whilst the latter was still an independent station)?

Border took quite a few of Granada's regional programmes, such as the Granada-branded Granada Soccer Night, and screened Young Doctors via the Granada feed. They also started showing Sons and Daughters via Granada in 1994, meaning Border viewers missed a chunk of the episodes. They also shared some programming with Tyne Tees and STV, and of course part-networking of purchased programmes was nothing unusual, but it did seem there was a significant correlation between Granada and Border schedules at times.

UTV also took Granada Soccer Night, incidentally.

Also, after the takeover by GMG, I wonder why Border did not follow the other GMG North regions and incorporate their logo into the 1999-2002 idents? Border's logo vanished from screens well before YTV, TTT and Granada's did.

When the 1999 idents were introduced, Border weren't owned by Granada. They were still imdependent. The Capital Radio takeover happened in 2000, and they promptly subcontracted playout to GMG in Leeds. In 2001, Capital sold Border to Granada. Granada later reintroduced the Border logo to production slides button idents.

I still found it bizarre that Border took Granada feed, yet still provide CA for its self but also Grampian on Saturday afternoon. I don't believe Border took any TT shows once Farming outlook finished, but of course STV show only really come in once the spilt happened

On another note: Does anyone remember if TT, Border, Grampain or UTV broadcast "CHiP"s? in 1979 or early 1980?

Granada provided CA for Grampian?? Really?
How did this come about. Were they generic announcements, or pre-rec'd specially?

No Border and Grampian had the same line up - from memory it was a film at 1310, followed by Knight Rider, Cartoons, and Airwolf. Granada did their own thing.

Does anyone remember when Chips went out on Border, TSW and HTV during 1985 or 86?

During Wales's pool matches in the 1991 Rugby World Cup, did HTV Wales take the ITV network presentation and commentary, or did they use their own presentation and commentary?

As some may know, I have been trying to found out times of when some series went out and what was networked or not, its not been easy, Half the time the wiki pages need to be clean up:

I have to ask Was there any US sitcom that really made it big on one of the itv networks? 14 hated it but one love it so much there broadcast all the time.

Silver spoons, Was this fully broadcast by most? I get the feeling it was only a cheap filler and never shown everywhere: It seems Border and UTV hated Chips and rather broadcast Falcon crest and Battle star Gal.. .

Well the comedies I remember in the old 515/630 slot on Granada were Happy Days, Mork and Mindy, Joanie and Chiachi, Silver Spoons (only a few episodes and not sure if completely shown), ALF
