I've got a further question regarding Thames, I remember when Home & Away originally premièred on Thames back in 1988 however I have vague memories of a gameshow ending for good the week before hand, anyone know what it was (it may have been a Thames/LWT local gameshow rather than networked one).

you mean 1989 Wink

Blockbuster come to end for its 6th series on Friday 10th February, with H&W starting its daily run on Monday 13th. I doubt it was Connections,

My money could be "Winner takes All" that had another run in daily format in late 1988, but as said before some place like london never seem to have a lot of space.

I thought it may have been 1989 actually (wasn't the pilot in late 1988 on LWT?) All I remember was that it was presented by a woman with short hair (a style that was popular in the late 80's) and that's it, don't think it was Blockbusters, however it was over 20 years ago & I was 5-6 back then so the memory is very hazy Laughing

Sounds a bit like Connections with Sue Robbie, but I didn't think it was running in that slot in 1989. The H&A pilot went out on 12th Feb 1989 on LWT and YTV - most other regions showed it on Saturday 11th.

I think it must be connections, for some strange reason I remember her announcing it was the sadly the last show & that Home & Away would be on next week, I really don't know why that has stuck in my mind for all these years but perhaps it was because I've been wondering what the show was bloody called for all those years Laughing

Yes that's it, that's the programme, blimey that jumper is awful Laughing

Thanks for the link, I remember the following week this had been replaced by H&A, for years I always thought it was Thames who bought this one over to the ITV network, I'm guessing I'm wrong on that front?

Connections was Granada's answer to Blockbusters and was generally shown in the 5.15 slot when BB was on a break, but I don't know if it was fully networked. Maybe Thames were running behind the network with this run. In 1988 daytime and prime time versions were launched, hosted by Richard Madeley and later Simon P arkin

Itss unknown where on earth Connections Non Peak series * S4: 50 editions 1988, and S7: 70 editions went with these companies. I dare say the Peak version did not help.

It seems it got cut back to daytime 2- 3pm couple of times aweek, and then series run further be-hide with some companies taking until July 1990 to clear it:

It believe S4 was held over from 1988 to 1989 and 1989 S7 went out twice weekly over 8 month period.

I have been dig around, it seems that there were only 4 decent slots for USA dramas:

* Thursday: 7.30 - 8.30
* Fridays: 7.30 - 8.30
* Saturday: 930 - 10.30
* Sunday 8.30 - 9.30

Plus 5.05 A team: on Saturdays, and Mondays 10.35pm. Of course, partly down to IBA rules and regulations about how many US show could be broadcast during peak times

You would think these would be network, Alas not, depending on each area, would depend, what you would get,

Falcon crest, Magnum, Knight Rider, Murder she wrote, Crazy like a fox, Beauty and the best, LA law, Highway to heaven.
I cant seem to found the Premier of pilot of Murder she wrote:
