Talking about Networked ITV reminds us of Midweek Sports Special, and indeed midweek football being networked. There's a good link, which I'll post later, that explains about the midweek fixtures that were televised by ITV and BBC, and indeed the difficulties in getting the fixtures. Before midweek sports special, did any regional games on ITV get networked?
Not really sure what you mean there, as the link points out most midweek football was indeed networked. If you're referring to the weekend regional games being networked, then yes, each week the regions would show highlights of two other matches from other regions after their game. They would usually go for local interest but if there was an obviously big game that one region was showing, all regions would choose that as one of their games. In The Big Match Revisited from 1983 there's a Match Time where LWT's coverage of the FA Cup semi-final was the main match and the league game Granada were covering came after that.

Here is a very strange one. For most of Series 3 of New Faces Scottish Television did not broadcast the series at the weekends instead broadcast episodes at 10.30 on a Thursday night, This resulted in there votes not counting from December 1974 - July 1975.

DID STV create its own Version of "Husband of the year"? The papers are given strange details of it back in 1975.
I do know STV was up to old tricks of broadcasting its day after the series ended in the network but the newspaper clipping have added name " Pat Phoenix and Alan Browning, who don't appaer on any ref to the series.

Talking about Networked ITV, and merging it with my love of Rugby Union, the 1991 Rugby World Cup was the first shown by ITV. Wales, of course, is famous for Rugby, and I was wondering, if HTV Wales had their own presenters for Welsh matches in RWC 1991?
Not that Wales got far - lost in the group stages to Australia and Manu Samoa.
I know Bob symonds was commentator, but that was networked, I believe, so did HTV Wales have their own commentators as well for within Wales?

Not sure about 91 but in 99 when it was in Cardiff HTV produced extensive coverage.
Not sure about HTV Wales, but I know UTV produced their own coverage of Ireland's matches in the 2007 World Cup. Something I don't recall them doing before - or since.

They've always done their own coverage, I think. In 1999 they even showed live the other matches in Wales' group which elsewhere were only on ITV2, and in 2003 they did their own coverage of the Wales games and also I recall their own highlights shows both on the days of the matches, and on the day before as well for more build-up. Of course, the 2011 Rugby World Cup was the reason why they couldn't do their own coverage of England vs Wales in the football.
The racing thing was a bit strange, Carlton did indeed put in a bid and said they would use presenters like Des Lynam and show the races on ITV, which was news to Des Lynam and ITV, and inevitably they lost. On similar lines, had OnDigital won the rights to the Premier League from 2001, I think they were going to show a few games on ITV. Everyone forgets now but when Sky won all the rights to the Premier League to 2004-07, they said that to avoid being seen as anti-competitive they would sub-licence eight matches to another channel. But nobody bid enough so they didn't.
