Puppet was in the first series but disappear in second series.

Is that it?

Nope, the theme tune also different, but of course there is no full clips so its anyone guees if there are other minor differences.

Must be my old memory playing tricks but I always thought that Wide Awake Club had been going at least 12-18 months before WACaday started.

What I have never been able to find on youtube is the opening sequence to WAC2000 - when it moved to Granada studios.

Your Memory is not playing tricks, Wide Awake club stared in October 1984, while Wacaday started in October 1985 for the school holidays become the rat went to the BBC

1993:

* HTV also covered Westcoutnry
* Yorkshire covered TT
* Granada covered Border

1995
* Merd also covered Anglia

but it was 2002 when Manchester moved to leeds. and HTV, central and Merd moved to London.

Meridian provided playout for Anglia and HTV West.

HTV Wales was stand alone until 2002 I think

HTV Cardiff, also (as you point out) provided playout for Westcountry.

If I've got what you're trying to say correctly, Granada transmission moved to Leeds in mid-1998, with continuity announcing shortly after (based on a few sources over the years).

I'm sure Manchester was finally shut down as transmissions centre in 2002, but as you say some services had moved to Leeds.

Granada actually started to move transmission to Leeds in late 1997, starting with production of promos. Transmission moved around May. The continuity teams were briefly merged, with the like of Colin Weston appearing on YTV and Tyne Tees around June 1998 (much to my delight), but sadly all the announcers had to re-apply for their jobs, and the Leeds announcers mostly retained these.

Granada still produced CITV until around 2001/2, but all transmission and presentation had ended by the end of 1998.

Indeed, Colin Weston had gone by October 1998, maybe around the time the lower case ITV logo launched. I remember seeing a Tyne Tees programme menu pop up on Granada mid-1998, so there must have been a few teething issues. I think only one Granada announcer went up to Leeds, that being Tracey Crawford IIRC.

Carlton Central has produced it through this period at Gas Street in Birmingham, apparently CITV moved to Manchester in 2004, not sure what that meant for transmission, as by this point it was alll out of vision.

That was also around the time Leeds started doing weekend continuity for Border, as their transmission was handled by Granada. In my opinion that was the start of Border's long, painful decline and what irked me at the time was the use by the Leeds announcers of phrases such as "our region" when it was obvious regionality was starting to go down the pan - it just sounded so artificial - and of course the goddamn awful "serving the whole of our region, you're with Border" whenever an edition of Scotsport was about to be screened. Of course it was YTV who effectively destroyed Tyne Tees during the nineties, so it was ironic when the Leeds CA department was itself closed in 2002,

Quick question regarding Trident TV.

I had always thought that this had come in around 1975, just after the colour transmitters had been moved around.

But according to the end of this:

Trident was already in existence in 1973.

I know that Tyne Tees was financially in the hole from around 1969, but didn't realise that the 'remedy' had come in that soon.

Can anyone clarify?

Par for the course with Leeds to be honest. We'd endured years of stuff like that happening in the North East, so it isn't surprising that Granada had some similar moments.

YTV always put their output first, with the other stations very much an afterthought. I remember a period around 1995 when YTV started to cross-fade the end of programmes into trailers etc in the same way Central had been doing for some time, with the voice-over starting and then the vision cutting to the promo. All very slick -- except they were doing the same with Tyne Tees, but cross-fading the sound at the same time as the video. So we went through about three weeks of missing the first 3 or 4 seconds of promos. It only ended when the YTV feed went back to the usual methods.
