Going back to the original topic discussed in this thread, how and when did the change from the networking arrangements of yesteryear (when generally speaking the originating company was responsible for playing out a show) to the present-day arrangement of practically everything being 'played out' from London, come about?
Was it a gradual shift as operations became more centralised and companies began amalgamating? Or was there an 'all change' date (eg 28/10/02)? Our friend Wikipaedia mentions LNN being responsible for distributing a 'network feed' and implies this began in the 90s - at some point did say Leeds and Manchester begin feeding Emmerdale and Corrie into LNN for insertion into this network feed. Or were the former networking arrangements effectively in place, with fewer transmission centres, until the point when LNN/South Bank took control of 'sticking all tapes into the players'' themselves?
Si-Co has pretty much answered his/her own question. In 1993 LNN took over the transmission responsibilities for LWT, GMTV and Carlton. LNN was really just another transmission site and networked programmes for LWT and Carlton and onpassed network feed(s) of other programme companies programmes as and when it was appropriate to do so. At that time it was not a sustaining network feed in any sense. As the ITV companies merged, leading eventually to ITVplc, so the various transmission facilities closed down and transmission services to those regions originated in London or Leeds.
GMTV of course was always originated from the London LNN site. All the circuits still passed through LWT's ( TLS') Lines area where local telextext and talkback in teletext where added. National teletext was, from 1993, added at the transmitter sites.
In going and outgoing circuits were still identified by their 'KRS' numbers, as they still are today.

Yes, the LNN playout facility was rebuilt between 98 and 2000, to handle 16:9/DVB and pres/playout for ITV 2.
I was involved in that project, I can't recall whether non 'LWT/Carlton' programming was played out from there, I don't think it was. I suspect that started in Oct 2002, when other (macro)regional pres outside London was consolidated to LNN ?
Another whitewash has taken place in history: Just take a look at the first video and can you stop all the difference?
It seems no-one can, please explain
I think he's on about the puppet co-presenter that nobody remembers.
What's been whitewashed then? The two clips were from different programmes anyway so there will be differences
Ben is correct, Inspector you really NOT grasping it. I even said there were different programmes from the start:
* First Video: TV-am Wacaday Titles 1985
* Second video:
Just for the fun
of it TV-am Wide Awake Titles Early 1986
Puppet was in the first series but disappear in second series.
