My first exposure to Ten - recorded by a young yours truly in Sydney. A stunning news opener and set that impress to this day.
I became a big fan of the 'underdog' network - and from experience working voluntarily at the station as a teenager for a couple of years, I can tell you Ten was (and largely still remains) the down-to-earth, rough-and-ready station in town - a newsroom with a big heart that welcomed passionate young students with open arms. They literally had me buy bottles of wine from the pub as a 16-year-old for the post-newscast booze up. Ten were first to embrace the tabloid, localised, and Americanised approach to news - happy chat, Live eye crosses and breaking news.
