The station has put itself into administration as it has failed to win financial backing. Nothing really suggests what will happen if this is a long term thing. But this is quite a downfall for a once big station.

It's a sad day. Hopefully the network will recover soon

I'm a great fan of the Supercars championship, a touring car category. They have a tv deal with Foxtel for pay tv, and some live coverage and highlights FTA with Ten, until 2021. The CEO of Supercars, James Warburton, who, ironically, used to be involved at Ten, has said that he is confident that the FTA coverage will stay the same for the rest of the season, being "business as usual" for this weekends event in Hidden Valley, Darwin.

Confirmation on the Supercars website

One other thing, Ten is the broadcaster and TV rights holder for Neighbours. How will this affect the negotiations with channel 5 here in the UK, for an extension of the deal to show it?

From Australia's Nine Network, a report about Ten's grave financial difficulties:

It won't. However, it could lead to the show's cancellation regardless of whether or not Channel Five sign a deal to keep the show. Heck, potentially this could be the end of the entire network. Obviously, that would make any deal not worth the paper it's written on.

Eleven is co-owned with CBS. I don't know whether that makes it more or less vulnerable to closure. Depends how the station is doing financially.

One of the newspapers a few months back said tat channel 5 had signed for another 4.5 years fora slightly cheaper fee.

TEN - The Entertainment Network. A clever backronym!
