Considering I'm a Celeb still uses cue dots communication does seem to be quite basic, it's not like a live show from The London Studios,

It is no different really, cue dots are a back up, they'll have talkback to the scanner in Australia.... and if that fails a phone

Bizarrely the premiere of the film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom is happening tonight in Leicester Square.

BBC World accidentally cut away from the 10 in picture only, Jon Sopel and Kasia Maderia standing by. I wonder what was the last piece of breaking news that BBC World broke to BBC one viewers? Diana's death?

Anything that broke overnight, including the death of Osama Bin Laden

Neither BBC or ITV cutting in to show the Obama statement. Surprising move not to cut in Sky are showing it live.

The use of the kites ident on BBC1, with it's upbeat soundtrack, was not at all appropriate, to lead into such a solemn news event. Once again, the current lack of any BBC1 ident with sufficient gravitas for serious news events, is very evident.

Blimey, the BBC even managed to update the EPG with their 10 minute 'News Special' . . .

Well, it is what the EPG is for. Notice that they haven't yet removed This Week.

I realise that, and congratulate them for being so quick: many other channels don't bother for such short-term changes as this.

I checked through Sky 1, and their edition of Trollied didn't even have a strap pointing people to Sky News, which I believe they've done in the past. There wasn't even a quick mention during the break.

I don't suppose the new BBC One schedule will show until they've decided what the replacement programmes are going to be. It's a difficult choice whether to postpone Question Time as it is also topical today.

I wonder if we will still get a comprehensive round up of the other two big news stories today.

It does show the fickle nature of news. A massive story with hours of coverage is now suddenly off the agenda altogether.

Are we going to get the regional news which may have been extended anyway?

Surprising when Huw promised that they would do just that.

It looks as though the 10 is on for an hour: unless there is going to be a 20 minute weather forecast from 10:40 to 11:00.

Question Time is still listed as for 11:00pm.

They are showing it now.

ITV will probably do regional news, when the extended national news comes off at 10 past, and it will be probably the same 3 minutes or whatever it is these days. Might not see any regional news on BBC1 now until the morning though.
