There was one single SABC mic at President Zuma's announcement. Where were e.tv's reporters?

I'm guessing other broadcasters and news agencies may have been plugged into the PA system for their audio feed or that SABC were acting in a pool capacity on behalf of everybody else?

Yep... as with Maggie Thatcher earlier this year, we have - from a news perspective - the passing of a very old person who had been poorly for some time. So, there will be stacks of material ready to go.

Yes it's a story that isn't so much about the 'Breaking News' aspect but all the retrospective reports and documentaries. When someone elderly dies it's a lot more difficult to handle as breaking news as it's something we've all been expecting for some time. The BBC made a pigs ear of it with the Queen Mother's death, which was rehearsed every few months for practically decades.

They didn't do as badly with Thatcher as they quite rightly focussed on the debate of her legacy, which of course is still very newsworthy.

Yes, it's been a bit like pantomime with all the cheering and booing. Jacob Zuma the big enemy.

Notice BBC2 has three hours of coverage of him "Lying in state" tomorrow from 5am. Surely there is a bit more too it than that.

I think it's all getting a bit OTT now.
