That's all very well but the aim these days is to get the news on air first. It's a lose lose situation, either it looks a bit messy or they do it your way and wait 5, 10, 15 mins or however long it takes to get a 'main news team's ready to get it on air.
Then the social media whinge about how slow the BBC are
I've always said that for a story on the scale such as this is should be the news channel joining the main news team, not the other way round.

Thanks for that. Very poor indeed.
I wouldn't go that far, it wasn't ideal but in the circumstances the only thing wrong with it was the wording of the announcement, presumably the urgency to get on air once the death was announced meant that it had to be rushed. Just adding 'of South Africa' at the end would have saved it
We'll agree to disagree.
I found the ident, sound, tone and bizarre wording all very poor.
A slide with a very simple handover to BBC News would work better in future, in my opinion.
Here's the moment BBC One opted out of Mrs Brown's boys for those asking:

This is TV Forum, the BBC will always have f'cked it up somehow.

This is how Al Jazeera English broke the news. Lauren Taylor apologises profusely for interrupting the last package.

Seven years later but still IMO that graphics package remains clean, elegant and effective.

I assume that Zuma was being cued for SABC as he waited by that podium for a while. I loved his impromptu mic check, a slick White House announcement this wasn't!
I'm surprised AJE went to it so late compared with the BBC, they could have missed the start

Probably to placate the insular nutjobs who think the BBC should be pointing their cameras at the sea and at a few puddles all night.
Martine Croxall now in Studio E giving a round up of the days other headlines.

Are you suggesting the current weather conditions shouldn't have any coverage? Considering they're having a much more real effect on lots of the people watching.
