At one point more people watched it in the UK than lived in Australia!

Quick lession time

how many ppl live in oz?

20.8 million people, and Sydney is the largest city in population, Melbourne is 2nd.

Also TV Ratings there only cover metro stations and not regional affiliates (Prime, NBN, WIN, Southern Cross, Imparja)

An ITV half hour lasts 22 mins 20 secs, so if Neighbours runs for 22 mins then that would be an ideal fit

Of course, up against ITV's old friend Paul O'Grady. I get the feeling someone's a little obsessive at that HQ...

Yes I've noticed that! On ITV's Loose Women , Denise Welch referred to her recent appearance on POG as "on a chatshow", as if she'd would get crucified for mentioning the name Paul O'Grady Laughing

MG : The BBC has begun making plans to fill Neighbours' two daytime slots.

American teen drama Falcon Beach, which the BBC last year bought from Fremantle, the Neighbours distributor, could be used - although it was originally earmarked for another daytime slot.

The 26-part series is billed as a coming-of-age drama focusing on the lives and loves of a group of twentysomethings living in a lakeside resort.

Well thats perfect for 5.35, then either extend the news or commission another twenty series of Bargain Hunt.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but has there been a set date for the move to ITV if this will happen? Laughing

The contract doesn't finish until the end of next year, so there is plenty of time for the BBC to come up with a replacement.

Malcolm in the Middle would be good for the slot too - it's been shunted around the BBC2 scheduled and never had the chance to build the audience it deserved.

It is - or was. It's been axed in a few, including by BBC America and either in Australia or New Zealand. I think both have replaced it with Hollyoaks.
