Currently, it is billed as having a 25-minute slot on BBC1 but it doesn't air for that long. I've watched Neighbours many years and it always starts at 17.36/7 and ends at 17.58. By my calculations, that would only leave about a 21/22-minute programme. If ITV or Five put it in a half hour slot, then it wouldn't need much, if anything, chopping from it at all.
Yes, it's about 22 minutes long, so not that much shorter than a normal ITV half hour programme. They'd be less editing as there will be no need to join the 2 parts together as they do for the BBC

You seem to forget that the ad break (not to mention the sponsorship, do you honestly think ITV would have Neighbours without one?) might be a strong deterrent for some viewers.
I can imagine it all now...
START: "Later tonight on ITV1 Norris gets the shock of his life in Corrie, thats at 7.30... Now though, Paul's in a spot of bother in Neighbours..." (Sponsor..) "Neighbours is sponsored by Bonzi-Barbecues..." "Last time on Neighbours..."
AD-BREAK: "Neighbours is sponsored by Bonzi-Barbecues etc.."
END/AS CREDITS ROLL: "To celebrate the return of Mrs Mangel, we're giving you the chance to win a trip to the set of Neighbours.. in association with Bonzi-Barbecues... to be in with a chance, just answer the following question.. Where is Neighbours set? A) London, B) New York, C) Erinsborough. If you think you know the answer phone, 0901 0728248248248284284.. calls cost £30 a min, or text A, B, C to 285173551378515 by midnight Friday..."
"To get all the latest Ramsey Street gossip sent to your mobile just text MOBILE to 1294185231.. and you can visit the website at www.itv.com/neighbours... in association with Bonzi-Barbecues..suitable for all weathers..even bloody snow!"

I found this petition that is going on.
This is the link to Keep BBC Daytime show, Neighbours on The BBC petition:
Please sign and pass on, Thanks
(I doubt the petition will do much good, but there are lots of signatures)
(The Sky news showbiz person on Sky news has been saying that some of the Neighbours actors are ''deeply concerned'' the show could be about to be dropped from the BBC network in the UK, despite the pay rise for them if the deal to ITV goes ahead)
