Blimey - I mustn't watched Neighbours for ages! I remember when the BBC was 18 months behind Oz...

You want to watch the episodes at the beginning of March. One of the titled episodes for the season finale is entitled "An End of an era" Without giving anything away, things will go off with a bang at the Lassisters Complex. Probably said too much there Smile

Exactly. Whether we like it or not, ECPs are here to stay. So has the BBC considered other ways of generating ECPs, perhaps actually producing a ECP-friendly split-screen end-credits sequence (popular overseas, notably America and Australia) and having these burned onto the playout tapes.

i dont think they're exactly burned into the play out. They are put in as a 'special segment' sort of like scheduling a promo. The show would fade out then the ECP would fade in instead of the original credits which have been removed.

Yes, I did realise the Aussie credits were separate 'segments' as on occasions the internatonal credits have played by mistake, or indeed no credits or the credits for the wrong show have played!

With BBC shows not having ad-breaks or 'promo breaks', there would be no need for the end-credits to be a 'separate segment', hence my suggestion the ECP-friendly closing sequence be burned onto the tapes. I wasn't suggesting the actual promos be burnt on (other than perhaps 'Next Time' promos), but that there could be a special panel for such promos to be inserted into - thus removing the need for 'cropping' live on transmission.

The panel could be designed so that it wouldn't look odd if no promo played during a repeat showing, or on an international copy. A sort of combination in styles of the ITV Hearts credits, and the Channel Seven ones.

Thats true, ive only seen it happen once when home and away credits were played after an episode of threat matrix. It also had a 'Now' promo but unfortunatley it didn't come on lol.

It's pretty annoying the way the ECPs now always jolt the credits when they come on and off, I assume this is since the move to the new playout centre. Can't something be done - it looks really naff in this day and age!

It's always been like that.

Really!? I hadn't noticed that before. I'm sure it seems more pronounced or something.. maybe I'm wrong... Wink

You could be right, as they're using new equipment, but there has always been a glitch, more noticeable on rolling credits which jump a line or two back down the screen just before the ECP starts.

They completely ruined today's episode. After 10 years, one of the show's best loved characters -Libby Kennedy- left to be with Darren in Shepperton.

The final shot showed Susan alone on the street while Charlton Hill's "Raincloud" played over the top. The credits then rolled. Before we were allowed to savour the moment and reflect on the end of an era, they squeezed the credits to advertise Wildlife on One, which they'd advertised before Neighbours started!!!!!

What a bunch of idiots! It's just cock up after cock up. Twisted Evil

That's not a cock up. That was an editorial decision by Marketing.

Ahh, wonderful people. For one day would it have really hurt to let the credits run full screen? Did they do it for both showings?

Any chance of a clip of the final scene/credits? I never manage to catch Neighbours these days...

It was an editorial (as opposed to technical) decision about Marketing .

Not saying I entirely disagree with you though - doesn't seem to me to make much sense to talk about SIX programmes over the end of Murder She Wrote this afternoon Confused
