I know most will probably lie here, but how many of you would have noticed the change if there wasent all this press?

It would have been quite obvious even without publicity. Aside from the cosmetic changes to the show, it is very obvious that a large number of well-established characters left and very tedious replacements have come in. The storylines are far less exciting and are the main reason why I've switched off. As I said earlier, I've never had a break from the show in over 15 years so something must have changed to put me off it.

Ok take away the new credits/music, take away the HD thing, i dont think people would see a big change, or have got their hopes up so much. The change is not over yet, it will take many months before this new way is complete.

As I said, aside from the cosmetic changes, there have been evident changes to cast and storylines which have made me, a committed viewer of 15 or so years, stop watching. I'm not the sort of person who would stop watching just because of a new titles sequence. I didn't care for the way the show was heading (even before the re-launch; this slip has been happening gradually over several months). I specifically steered clear of discussion of the re-launch because I didn't want to hear any spoilers. All I knew was that there was going to be a new title sequence and theme music. I had no idea there were going to be such big changes to the cast and storylines.

I'm with itsrobert sadly. I've actually felt not bothered to watch it in recent weeks (aside from the days when I'm busy).

It will take a while for improvements to happen yes, and when its unpopularity in Aus was all reported in the press - Neighbours in the UK hadn't quite gone down hill yet. We were still on the stories with the Hoylands and Susan and Karl in London which were still on track imo.

Yea to be honest it has been rather dull, 2005 - 2007 (up till Sept) didnt seem that bad now.

Mistakes:

- Getting rid of the House Of Trouser.
- Getting rid of the Timmins, and turning the one remaining into something she's not.
- Not really knowing what to do with Paul - how many more unknown relatives can one man have?
- Bringing in hordes of unknowns.

I find the new unknowns in Neighbours the life and soul of the modern programme.

Many of the older characters had lost their flair and some new beginnings were overdue.

Well done to the producers for spicing things up with a range of new and exciting characters.

I dont mind Rebecca and her son probabaly because their storyline is quite interesting, but im not so keen on the new Parker family. However I think they deserve a chance.

I'm sure i read somewhere that Network TEN told them to get rid of the House of Trouser, and bring in the new four (at the time Will, Frazer, Pepper and Rosie)

House of trouser - joke was past its best

Timmins - run out of storylines for them

Paul - makes things interesting

Hordes of unknowns - variety is the spice of life which compliments Neighbours lifestyle appeal.

Hopefully Neighbours will adapt to the modern ways of real life introducing some disabled, ethnic and homosexual characters too.

New characters only work if they are acting with the established characters first - allowing for a storyline to develop from there. There hasn't been much of that in Neighbours lately. The problem is, the established characters they're working from haven't been in the show that long themselves.

I hope this makes sense. Confused

Sometimes evolution comes at a cost, sometimes that cost is established characters or established ideals Wink
