Why not?

For the BBC to drop a programme getting 3+ million viewers a day would be ridiculous as well as "a waste of license payer's money"™

It would show the BBC just spitting their dummy out and having no regard for their viewers.

With everything about Five News recently, is it looking more likely Neighbours will be shown at 5.30pm do we think?

In the long term view though, it wouldn't do the BBC - and hence the licence payer - any favours to build up an audience for a rival network. Estabhlishing something of their own in the slot is surely more important.


It just also seems the natural point to switch channels - though I assume the contract means Five will launch with episodes which kick-off the 2008 season in Australia.

I reckon with the new titles and theme, I agree it would be an appropriate time for BBC1 to drop it.

Yeah but when the 2008 season starts on five we should have a title change if only very small.

It's not just the titles though is it - it's probably the biggest changes in the shows history and a new start for the show.

In Australia it was unashamedly promoted as a complete relaunch.


P.S. How have ratings been affected there since the relaunch?

Why not? Surely as soon as the BBC's contract comes to an end Five's will start?

Yeah but the changes have already started a few weeks back on BBC One.

This was mearly laying down the foundations for the relauch though. As a responable broadcaster the BBC should continue showing Neighbours till the move to Five it should not be there job to make Five lose ratings!

Not that we will get to hear the new there cos of Finchams "Bright Idea" of squashing the credits and talking all over them!!

However I have noticed that on BBC One Scotland, they have played out the credits clean several times during the afternoon and 5:35pm show.

I think I will stick to BBC One Scotland on Monday cos there's NO WAY network will run the credits clean! (Unless the promo rubbish fails....which is rare!)

Just noticed that this weeks UK episodes are in sequence with the right days of the week as broadcasted in Australia back in July.

Yeah, I think that's why they dropped it last bank holiday.
