I've been told by my sources for soapworld.co.uk that they are making more sets to include on Neighbours, so i assume the show is getting bigger. Also the new cast picture all together - is that the biggest they've ever had? I just hope they dont get too big.

At least with Neighbours, you dont have people floating around, i think everyone has a storyline, or are linked.

Jackie Woodburne ( Neighbours, Susan Kennedy ) is such a fantastic actress and its been great to see her character evolve over the last 12 years.

The writers have not always been faithful to all the characters - choping and changing their characters persoanility to suit the plot. (Toadie, Paul Robinson and Harold Bishop spring to mind) but Susan's character has naturally evolved over the years - from being the goodie-goodie mumsy character at the start, a lady who wouldn't say boo to a goose, to the strong independent character she became after her first breakup with Karl.

Watching her today we saw the elements of the old vunerable Susan and the head strong Susan being played out as she faces her insecurities again. Her character is probably the most believable one in the whole of Neighbours history and I'm looking forward to the very challenging storylines she has coming up over the next six months.

We love you Susan!

I think the new look is a great boost to an otherwise tired show.

It will be interesting next year, to see it on a level playing field with Home & Away as many feel the channel is the only thing holding it back.

Apologies if this has been posted but here's an interesting article from Broadcast on why Neighbours went to Five.

Fremantle on why Five got Neighbours
Susan Thompson
3 August
After 20 years Neighbours has become an "invisible part" of the BBC's schedule, according to distributors Fremantle Media, which earlier this year sold the Australian soap to Five.

Fremantle's finance director Ian Ousey said that while Five is a sister company of Fremantle's (both are owned by RTL), this was not the reason it had decided to sell the long running series to the broadcaster.

Rather, he said it was because Fremantle was attracted to Five's plan to make a daily "Australian hour" by scheduling Neighbours next to Home and Away.

Ousey said: "We put the programme to market. We didn't just aim to sell it for the highest price as we wanted to give it to a good home.

"Five is [our] sister company but it was their idea to twin [Neighbours] with Home and Away and give it an Australian hour which attracted us.

"Neighbours had been with the BBC for 20 years and was an invisible part of the BBC's schedule."

In May this year, Five poached the rights for Neighbours in an eight year deal worth £300m.

Starting from 2008, it is thought that Five will schedule the show at 6.30pm, where it has struggled to replace axed local soap Family Affairs. It will form an Australian soap zone with Home and Away. It will also air on Five Life.

At the time BBC1 controller, Peter Fincham said: "This is nearly three times the amount we pay at the moment."

how hirarious was Neighbours today!

t had me in stiches in todays episode with the storyline of Dr Karl Kennedy and his desperatation to land a high-powered job as a drug rep.

Lying about his age, family and saying that Susan is his older sister with 5 children all from different fathers, including Lou Carperter!

Anyone else see it?

watch it at 5:35pm - it was realy good!
