Sarky! No, I was just wondering if they'll be a place to see it again online.
Forget it...i'll use me VCR.

Anyway, seeming as we're celebrating the history of Neighbours, thought I'd share with you a few of my early memories...
I first got into Neighbours back in 1989. I was very young at the time and don't remember very much. I think the very first episode I saw was a fire at the Bishops and their awful brown sofa going up in flames! I also remember...
the Coffee Shop fire,
Henry Mitchell redecorating Paul Robinson's office at Lassisters in graffiti.
Mrs Mangel (who they always used the same incidental music when she appeared) then later arrival of the Mangels (including Toby, Joe and baby Sky - who was often cared for by then Principal of Erinsborough High, Dorothy Burke). Toby looked after Bouncer and became good friends with (then car salesman) Lou Carpenter.
Weird Faye Hudson who was probably some relation of the Willis's.
The lovely Alessi twins including the kidnapping of Christina (?), the arrival of Marco and Rick.
'Whatsherface' Robinson falling off a ladder (she is in the 20th Anniversary titles).
Todd Landers and his crush on geeky Phoebe Bright - concluding Todd's death by a car or something.
The death of Jim Robinson and the introduction of the Martins.
The Willis' family (who moved in after Des Clarke left) and their daughter Gaby (did she die?) also the disappearance of Beth (Natalie Imbruglia) Brennan.
Helen Daniels and Reuben White (who Anne Haddy later married in real life) painting her portrait.
The Kennedy's arrival (who moved in to Pam and Doug's place) and Karl always getting angry with Malcolm for kickboxing!
They are a few of my early memories, some are probably incorrect. I could go on to the introduction of Stonefish, Toadfish and the rest of the Rebbechis, The Wilkinsons with lovely Anne and Lance's Tangoman tan!, Cheryl Stark and also the amount of Neighbours cast who have appeared in our local Pantomines year after year but I could be here all morning probably boring the socks of a lot of you.
So anyway...
Happy Birthday Neighbours.

So we get to see shots of them on an
aeroplane
?
Makes a change from the rarely seen shots of a beach, nightclub or shopping mall.
Also, I really think they need to expand Erinsborough High. It always seems to be a corridor and that ONE classroom!

There's been some great fun on Breakfast this morning leading up to the Neighbours special from 0830. At 0725, we crossed over live to 'Erinsborough' where Andi Peters was speaking to us as Stuart and Toadie were being recorded in a scene outside the General Store. There was some banter with London before Stuart - or rather Blair McDonough in Stuart's police uniform - came over to complain to Andi Peters to keep the noise down because they were recording, at which point Andi explained that he was in a live link-up to London.
Blair looked a bit surprised, then grinned at the camera while Andi carried on briefly, before said something along the lines of "we're gonna carry on here, but in the mean time, wherever you are in England, here's the news, travel and weather in your part of the country" - and as the opt-out sting began to play, Andi interjected with "...or Ireland, Scotland or Wales...!"
Plenty more nonsense to come, I suspect.

About 30 seconds before that, Andi was live on the phone to Chris Moyles on Radio 1, talking to Harold, Toadie and others (sorry, I don't know the actor's names).

Well, I've got to say, the Beeb did about as close to perfect an edit job as you could get on the special end credits today.
Unlike some of you had feared, it wasn't cut to ribbons, the music wasn't edited, and the sponsors logo was so cleanly
removed you'd think there was never a sponsors logo for Mercure Hotels on the credits in the first place!
And they didn't even spoil it with a gratuitous ECP promoting some totally unrelated program either!
Well done BBC . . . he says, trying not to sound like someone who's written in to Points of View!

Isn't it strange how often the big stories in Home and Away and Neighbours end up airing at the same time in the UK.
I watched Neighbours today for the first time in ages, having majorly gone off it in the last year or so, and I have to say I was disapointed. It was a blatant back-slapping congratulations, rather than doing something big for the viewers.
As for Home and Away's stalker episode - if only UK soaps were this good. H&A has been far superior over recent months, and when they get their characters back from the past, at least they have a plausible excuse (reunions, weddings, birthdays etc), rather than concocting a storyline around a documentary about an everyday streat.
And back to Neighbours - that line at the end was so corny - even worse than Ken Barlow's speech on the live Corrie episode a few years ago!
