Since Neighbours is essentially made for the UK nowadays, I wonder how the writers will script the time period for when the BBC/five transition takes place - will the make it easy for people to jump on/off or put in a major storyline's conclusion. There are problems with both of course as the BBC could just decide to pull the show at any second, but it will be worth seeing.

I wouldn't of put it past the BBC to put one of these over it though:

I can see the BBC pulling the show which I feel would be a tremendous disservice to its loyal viewers and I can't see Five being able to pick up the ratings again no matter how heavily they promote it. As mentiioned previously I think it's likely it will become a cult following, especially if the BBC drop it early.

I don't think they could reasonably pull it. However, as has been previously suggested, they could move it off BBC One some time before the contract runs out - most probably to BBC Three.

An all honesty, what would the BBC have to gain from moving the show. They have it until next March/April so moving it from daytime would not help there daytime ratings would it.

Also arent they contractually obliged to finish the airings which they purchased?

Well, that would be if he meant it in the past tense to boot.

I think they will drop it at some point. I can't see BBC1 airing an episode on the Friday immediately before Five start showing it on the Monday

What with soap episodes always ending on a mini cliffhanger, it would be practically an advert to watch Five 3 days later to find out what happens next

Maybe there will be a gap of a few weeks/months between when BBC's contract ends and when Five's starts?

Doesnt necessarily mean it will change channels at the start of the new season. Home and Away was mid way through the 2000 season when it moved from ITV to FIVE.
