I've been a loyal viewer of Neighbours for well over 10 years and whilst I am sad that the BBC have lost it, I'm glad it has gone to Five rather than ITV. I just don't trust ITV with programme scheduling as far as I can throw them. I think Five will probably treat the show much better and I think it will be a ratings booster for them. For now, I just hope the BBC does the honourable thing and keeps Neighbours exactly where it is until it moves to Five. It would be a disservice to the loyal viewers if they pulled it early or moved it to a crappy timeslot.

It'll definally lose viewers on Five, at least a million I would expect. Just like Home and Away it'll go from mainstream to a cult following
A lot depends on what time Five decide to show it.
Presumably also Five have paid more than the prices that were being quoted a few weeks ago, which means their budget for other programmes will be stretched

I would hope that there would be no ECP simply BECAUSE it was the last BBC1 edition, still we hoped ITV would run the full credit sequence on their last H&A but they didn't.

Which continuity announcer? Surely the BBC one wouldn't mention it - other than to stick an ECP over Friday's episode of what's to follow on Monday, whilst Five could happily run trails featuring clips of future episodes? I'd be surprised if the BBC have a one-year clause and even more surprised if they exercised it.

REmember it was a year before there started Reshowing H&W

It will lose viewers yes because Five get much smaller audiences than the BBC however it would have lost viewers had it moved to ITV1 too.

I'd imagine it'll certainly move from 1.30pm, probably airing at 12.30pm at the latest.
Unlikely, but airing it at 5pm might solve a few scheduling headaches for Five, leaving the news untouched and then showing the First Look at 5.30pm on Five Life, with Home and Away remaining unaffected.

Only cos ITV insisted on carrying out their contract without actually showing the show.
Five will be nuts to a) move it from 1:30 and 5:30; and b) not use FiveLife

Neighbours would look brilliant on FiveLife but that really is a channel that is out of sorts at the moment- many people tmk still not realising it exists. I agree with Jez that I think Five will handle Neighbours far better than ITV.
For early afternoon showing, Five may make use of the old Brainteaser slot - providing it hasn't returned.
But all in all, its sad that after 21 years that Neighbours is leaving the BBC. Despite people constantly justifying it, it WILL feel strange without it there.

I doubt the BBC will just pull it off air yet as it's still a daytime ratings winner for them. It gives them time to develop some new material/scheduling ideas leaving it where it is for now. Like you i have watched Neighbours for years now (Since the late 80's anyway) and just hope the viewer is put first in all of this cause afterall without any loyal viewers what is a soap opera?

Hopefully they will do some nostalgia programmes to coincide with it ending it's rein at the (almost) top of the BBC daytime schedule.
