If the BBC lost neighbours they would repeat Doctors at 5.35.

£13million a year??? for a soap watched by an combined average of 5 million people each day? Well if it does leave BBC then please let five get it, ITV will look at the ratings after the first day and replace it with Sharon Osbourne!

If ITV got the show they'd probably put it on at 2pm after the Lunchtime News, and a repeat at 5pm. The Royal Today, would probably air after Neighbours, (both slots) that's if both of these shows go on ITV1.

Although they have done well with H&A

They haven't done that well though have they, ratings are nothing like they were when it was on ITV. Surely they can't still blame that on their smaller reach - most people have got some form of digital now.

A shedload of people stopped watching H&A when it left ITV and didn't return a year later when 5 started showing it.

I wonder if the BBC have a similar clause - preventing Neighbours from being shown for 12 months if someone else got it?! That would be a disaster! Although highly unlikely I suspect.

If it switched channels would it be off screens for a year or so like Home and Away was?

I think Five be stupid to sign it up to be honest - it would seriously devalue Home and Away IMO - which is leagues ahead of Neighbours and better off remaining unassociated with it!

ITV1 5.30pm seems more likely, with a first look at 6pm on ITV2.

However, ultimately I think it'll remain with the BBC - the home of crap soap!

Only if there was something in the contract which said it couldnt be shown on another channel for a set period.

I dont think Five would be stupid to sign it up - afterall it would pull the viewers in for the 6.30pm slot, although obviously less than it gets on the BBC but it would still be a hit for Five. It would be interesting to see whether it beat Home and Away in the ratings if they were both on Five. I guess which slot it was on would have a lot to do with it as it would be up against Hollyoaks at 6.30pm.

I know the BBC are planning on showing a third edition of Neighbours on BBC3, also scheduling special episodes.

Major spoiler

The main character, who I mentioned would die earlier in this thread, will be Stingray. He dies suddenly from an embolism after donating bone marrow to Kerry.
