What about the other big News that Neighbours is getting a complete revamp.

Yep new set and going HD also, which really seeing as the beeb pratically fund the whole show now we should have the HD version also, maybe we will. I' not a fan though Neighbours is very poorly writtan and acted much like Eastenders, I presume EE writers also write for Neighbours seems very much like it

The BBC have about a 5% say in storylines, the whole production, writing ect is all done by the Australians.

Oh really but I did think it was very much funded by the beeb these days

Yes they do still fund it, but most of its operation is controlled by those at Fremantlemedia (is it still Grundy?).

They seem to have kept the Grundy logo on the BBC 2007 eps but not the Auz eps. Laughing

Neighbours is generally accepted to have poor storylines and bad acting... in essence, its always been like that since day one due to its short-structure storyline technique. This is, to me, what makes Neighbours work - the fact that you can tune in to any episode and just be drawn in to a situation rather than the characters.

That said, in Australia I think people are drawn to the characters more - and due to the fact a lot of new characters have arrived or long established characters have been sidelined perhaps this is why the show doesn't get huge ratings (in Aus).

To be fair 5% of the storylines etc is still a little high. Apart from the odd Pudsey bear this year, there have only been a couple of times that the BBC have had any editorial input - for example the very rushed child cruelty storyline a couple of years ago.

Neighbours is bad, bad storylines, bad acting and on many occasions appalling continuity (Karl is always drinking wine with meals despite being an alcoholic - which itself was a rushed storyline) - but is it fun. It suits the daytime slots perfectly and a 7.00pm BBC 3 showing would be much appreciated.

I've always wondered why they have never decided to show a Neighbours omnibus at weekends like Eastenders. i believe Neighbours gets a consistent audience of 5 million? it would be nice to have an omnibus at weekends like all other soaps get. It would also be nice to get some story promoting trailers like they do in Aus. They always seem very good the Aus trailers and really help build up the storyline.

Neighbours does have a strong hardline following. Like Nok said, i say its more storyline base that we follow, rather than engaging with the characters.

In Australia, as we are all aware the ratings have dropped, although slightly up this week thanks to the London scenes and that spoiler on other page.

most of them yes Toadies and Stephs need a revamp too though, I always liked The Coffee Shop to TGS.

Toadie's house needs a revamp, especially the kitchen.
