Oh no! Surely the BBC would just pay for all of the production if they decided to stop screening it in Oz? I mean, it can't cost all THAT much to make!!

The BBC have saved it before and will probably again. Its still averages audiences of 5 to 6 million.

Anyway the speculation says that ten would axe neighbours, whats to stop freemantle taking it to a rival network?

To be honest its not exactly in primetime slot in Australia. It is shown at 630pm, why not make it a 730pm or 8pm show??? Also doesn't help that in the Norther Territory it is actually shown at 5pm - nowhere near a primetime slot.

BBC has saved it once before, but would the BBC want to save it again or would it be cheaper to have programme fillers such as SCD - It Takes 2 to fill the slot, or even move Doctors to that time-slot????

Would five want to take on that responsibility, considering that they already have the same responsibility with Home and Away (btw does Granada Oz, under whatever name they use, still produce it for 7?)

Be a shame if they axed it. Im just getting into Neighbours again having watched it on and off since about 1988 (uk episodes)

I doubt BBC1 would be able to find anything that would get the same or even close viewing figures. It also fills up 2 slots per day for the BBC.

Did anyone else notice how the hospital was quickly revamped in todays episode after that fire? unless there's another hospital in Erinsborough?

It is another part of the hospital. That was explained in the episode with the fire.

It would be a shame if they would axe it. I dowbt it will happen as it's so popular here in the UK with the viewers. Crying or Very sad

...On the other hand... if it were to happen... The Beeb could re-run every single episode right up-until the end and then it would last another 22 years by showing it as they do now with a lunchtime edition and an early evening edition too! Very Happy

Nope, H&A is produced by Channel Seven Productions for Seven - it's never been produced by Granada.

I think Granada used to have a signifcant stake in Seven, but they sold it off sometime last year as it isn't a core asset to ITV.

I caught Neighbours for the first time in a long while today, and it was just different. Was it the beginning of a New Season or something? Considering the fact there was a fire and the kidnap of Sky's baby.

No the New Season won't be on for a few weeks yet about 6 I think.

Wasn't Granada a part-owner of Red Heart Productions - a company that produced H&A for a while
