Only input with regard to its content, they get sent storylines every week from Grundy 6 weeks before its filmed.

Do you think it'll go to Five?

I doubt it will be sold to five, the main reason is because the BBC has such a history with the programme, saving it from the axe a couple of times because of the success in the uk. I think Grundy, will recognise the BBC's contribution to the programme, and will therefore stick with them. The rights don't automatically go to the highest bidder.

What a totally selfish move that doesn't benefit the viewer in any respect.

I certainly hope it doesn't go ahead. That proopsed timeslot is rubbish too - right up against Hollyoaks. You can kiss goodbye to half your teenage audience.

I can't see it happening to be honest, the BBC and Fremantle have a very good relationship. The BBC commitment to Neighbours is stong as ever, there'll be airing the show at 7 on BBC Three from April and they're making a new Neighbours Revealed series, so I can't really see it moving, Fremantle would be very foolish.

Let's home Grundy tell Five where they can stick their idea, Neighbours is part of BBC One, plus would they not have to wait a year to show it on Five like they did with Home and Away?

It would all depend on when the BBC's contract ended and when Five's started. I believe with Home and Away ITV held the rights up until July 2001 which meant Five couldnt start showing it until that date. But ITV showed their last episode in June 2000!

I cant see Neighbours moving either, but im not surprised that Five want it - they have always been keen on aussie soaps and took Home and Away from ITV. Also it would make an aussie soap hour from 6pm if they were successful.

If, as reported last weekend, the BBC move their "daytime" afternoon line up from BBC2 to BBC1 as CBBC goes in the other direction then Neighbours could find itself squeezed out of the BBC schedule!

Although you can't believe a word they say, I'm quite surprised ITV have ruled themselves out of it. Ironically, it could be the quick fix solution to their daytime problems!

Don't see why Five would really want it - they have the far superior product in Home and Away and putting Neighbours on straight after it would prove it!

Also, you talk about it going up against Hollyoaks - but if the BBC are planning to put it out at 7pm on BBC3 they'll be doing exactly the same thing against the E4 "first look" editions. Isn't BBC3 supposed to be different?

Home and Away is far far better than Neighbours I agree. However I still think Five would like to get this series as it would probabaly pull in more viewers in the 6.30pm slot than whats there currently.

Yeah but it might do better for five's ratings but I doubt it would do Neighbours any help.

Neighbours needs to stay on BBC1, its the only show that remains from the big 1986 daytime revamp. What will we have in its place? Cash in Lorne Spicer's Attic? Rolling Eyes

Neighbours Credits here in NZ have changed again although we still have credits going up with the neighbourhood in the background, and its a different version of the theme song... which sounds quite bad. Ill try and record and upload to youtube next week.

How the heck did Susan managed to get from the Scarlet Bar to her house in one fell swoop like that?!?
