It won't be used from the start of the new season on the BBC, as they had already edited 4/5 weeks of epsodes with the current version of the theme on the closing credits.

So I suppose that means the new theme music will be used over the beginning titles from mid-April as well? Am I right in saying the old music is still in use over the titles in Australia - why is that? I watched the first episode of the new season, and thought it was a bit odd that the old theme was used for the titles, yet the new theme for the (albeit tiny) end sequence.

No, the theme is still the same, it's still sung by the same vocalist (Janine Maunder. It's just been remixed for the closing, maybe to give a it a little bit more dramatic effect.

The opening theme hasn't been updated in the same way as yet (no one has said it will be) in Australia and they are around 9 weeks ahead of UK episodes.

Yes, but although it is obvious it is the same vocalist, I can hear a definite difference in the arrangement of the new theme. It's punchier than the other one, and sounds quite different to my ear. It just seems strange that we will have the current theme on the opening titles, and a new style one for the end. Surely it would make more sense to remix the opening theme in the same way?

The background colour on the last few of the closing credits have again changed colour, now its a slight sort of red colour, they must change them weekly.

I notice that from Tuesday onwards, episode titles aren't appearing on BBC What's On - is this also the start of the new series?

Yes, the new season starts on Tuesday on the BBC. The episode title for Tuesday's episode is 'Take My Breath Away'.

They don't always appear on the BBC One website or the Sky EPG.
