I shall miss Harold, not that I watch Neighbours much these days, it's gone right down hill in recent months.

What's the betting Ian Smith was forced out by the producers?

Sorry to drag up an old thread but isn't Neighbours just awful at the moment.

It seems to be going round and round in circles all the time and if it's nothing to do with Rachel and the ongoing saga of her teacher boyfriend *yawn* then it's always somebody in hospital.

Honestly, change the record, sort it out Neighbours!

Ive stopped watching Neighbours for a good six months now. I started watching in 2005 right up till the relaunch regualy but it just seems to have changed so much now and i dont like it. I read that a few people did not like that era im talking about (Plane crash, Rob/Cam/Katya, Harold strangualing Paul, Izzy causing trouble as per, Bree turns out not to be a Timmins, Carmellas deranged cousin, Janae and Boyd, Stringrays death) but i loved that period.

Just watched it on FIVER tonight (normally watch it on Five) and was surprised to see it has 2 ad breaks!!! For a 22 minute programme to have 2 ad breaks is a joke!! I will be sticking to Five from now on!

How long has this been going on for?

I noticed this too. I think they have 2 ad break in Oz?

The non-PSB channels have always been permitted to show 30 minute programmes with two ad breaks, but used to have to comply with the 20 minute rule, which meant like on ABC1 they had to take a break near the beginning and near the end, which didn't really work.

However, as of the 1st Sept the 20-minute rule was scrapped and obviously Fiver have took advantage.

Not watched it this week, but certainly last week Home and Away was only take one break on Fiver.

I was surprised to see that Neighbours still takes a break for Christmas now that it's on Five. I can only assume this is
still some contractual obligation carried over from the BBC's old contract to show Neighbours, and to prevent UK aired
episodes catching up to the ones showing on Network Ten. At least there's no breaks for Wimbledon anymore.

What is strange though, is that the last ep before Christmas was on a Thursday rather than a Friday.

(I was going to post this last week, but never got around to it!)

Oh and good riddance to ADDA ... that spammer was ruining this thread!

I found that rather strange, too. I watched the last episode thinking that there would be another on the Friday. I was surprised to hear the CA say that it would be returning on 5 January. Yet, Home and Away still had an episode on the Friday and Neighbours was replaced by, iirc, Zoo Days. I can't wait for it to come back!

The Thursday episode was end of the that weekly block. The episodes now air as they do in Australia, with a Monday episode being on a Monday, and so on...
