He's smacked of his t*ts if you ask me! (own opinion). I suppose he's got a point though.
I didn't see the Five debut but already not liking this filmic idea.

1m/2.3m compared to 2.6m/2.7m last week on the BBC, but well up on Five's usual afternoon film (around 300,000) and the 700,000 for Five News.
Home and Away got a slight boost - 100,000 up at 6pm at 1.4m, but 500,000 at 2.15pm rather than 200,000 at 12noon.
Can't find any figures for Five Life, but the 7pm Neighbours airing didn't dent Hollyoaks's figures on E4, which got 778,300.

I doubt there'll be any "sorting out" of the film effect - I suspect it's here to stay.
As for the closers, 5+ years ago I would have agreed with you but who cares any more - the networks completely trash credits by shrinking them and talking over them, in fact the BBC were worse for this as they would start talking at the beginning and often not end until the Fremantle endcap was shown. So yes, the credits may be shorter, but at least we get to see and hear a bit more of them now.

Probably doesn't have much affect on the ratings but for me the poorest signal I get is for Five which is average, the other four channels I get a good signal. Some people can't recieve Five on analogue or if they can it's a poor signal.
I guess when Neighbours was on the BBC, the 5.35pm showing the raitings increased from around 5.55pm when people were switching on for 6 O'Clock News.
Anyone know about CBBC attendances from yesterday? I guess Newsround was down and Blue Peter will be when it's on.

Sparkle? Is this some side effect of HD that I'm unfamiliar with?

I don't know much about it to be honest but I know in the case of Casualty filmic was added to take away glare or something.

I deal with lighting for theatre, film and tv and I've never heard this expression.
Maybe there is something I have missed. I'm sure lighting for HD adds complications - but usually when you intend to make something filmic you light it accordingly.
I've never heard of filmic being used as a "fix" for bad lighting.

A bit of continuity banter there...
"Neighbours is sharing the afternoon with Home and Away now and they've been sharing dressing rooms.. Alf's been calling Harold a Galar.. its all got very messy!"
