It does look very odd to see the familiar faces behind a five dog, but I do have to say that with the new titles, harsher lighting, this "filmic effect" coupled with the fact i've not seen it for years (I have a job now), it does just look like the old cast members have left what I remember as Neighbours, and are on this funky equivalent for old Australian actors... It's very 'Home and Away' now isn't it?
Nice of the announcer to mention something (and give us some useless but interesting stats too!)

I'm probably in the minority but I thought the filmic look didn't look too bad compared to other shows like Casualty and Home and Away, obviously most people aren't going to like it but to me it didn't distract from what was going on on screen.
BTW anyone notice the Ten logo at the end of Neighbours?

I did wonder if the film effect was coming in - all clips shown in the documentary yesterday afternoon had the effect on it. I'm not sure I really see a need for it but I've got quite used to it now thanks to Home & Away so it doesn't bother me too much.
It raises an interesting question though - I've always assumed that Home & Away went "filmic" because that's how they started to make it, although now I'm wondering if it's made in the full frame rate but Five apply the effect.
