Why would the BBC send it off with a soft snuggly feeling when they spent 20+ years making the show what it is and then being dropped like a stone all in the name of short term cash.

That is a valid argument, but you would hope they might be able to put that aside for one moment - after all, Neighbours has been a staple on BBC1 for the past 21 years, and over the years it has been good for the channel. It's just a bit of a shame they didn't even say goodbye. I hope they have enough extra staff in at the BBC call centre on Monday to cope with the deluge of calls from confused viewers!

It is so sad that Neighbours has now departed the BBC, but I really can not believe that BBC One England ended Neighbours off like this -

As mentioned above, the show has been airing on BBC One for the past two decades, and I am quite frankly, disgusted in BBC One England for not saying goodbye - at least BBC One Northern Ireland said goodbye - the link is here -

Here's to Neighbours being shown on Five - just over an hour to go until launch time!
I wish Neighbours all the best of luck on Five. Very Happy

Neighbours will be sadly missed on the BBC - afternoons and early evenings on the BBC will never be the same again.

You cant really blame them though - they have lost the show after over 20 years of loyalty. They probabaly dont want to draw attention to the fact it will be on Five from today.

He's 50 btw... lol

The preview last night bored me to death, thank goodness it's on Five. Yet another reason not to watch...

I'm not surprise either. Why acknowledge it, when they were outbid and wisely decided not to throw that much money at it?

And why is BBC1 NI still using the Christmas ident, albeit with a different soundtrack?

I quite agree. It came across as petty and vindictive on the BBC's part. The ties have been so strong between the BBC and Neighbours for 22 years, especially in the early years.

I thought they should have had the grace to rise above any hard feelings, by making a quick light-hearted comment, like: "and BBC1 wishes the residents of Ramsay Steet all the best", so it wouldn't draw attention to the move to Five but would just show a bit of goodwill and at least acknowledge the end of a long relationship!

Yup, and if they can maintain this level of exposure, then being on five may not be so bad.

Fortunately Doctors is on BBC iPlayer!

The Weight Watchers sponsorship things aren't too bad actually - much better when the sponsor bumpers are tailored to the programme, rather than just an edit of their latest ad campaign.

An actual five ident with a sweeping view of "Ramsay Street"

And quite amusing to notice the Daz down under ad appearing in the break...

Is it me or is Neighbours seem like they've added the film effect?

Typical of them to add that 'film' effect on it now, why couldn't they have just left it like it was when it was on BBC One? Rolling Eyes
