Why would the BBC send it off with a soft snuggly feeling when they spent 20+ years making the show what it is and then being dropped like a stone all in the name of short term cash.

That is a valid argument, but you would hope they might be able to put that aside for one moment - after all, Neighbours has been a staple on BBC1 for the past 21 years, and over the years it has been good for the channel. It's just a bit of a shame they didn't even say goodbye. I hope they have enough extra staff in at the BBC call centre on Monday to cope with the deluge of calls from confused viewers!

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU LIKE? Laughing

*Side to camera Harry Hill style* I personally love a good brass band.

If it was a brass band on Big Brother or anything on Channel 4, he would have loved it Laughing

No - I hate them period - ever since the Salvation Army decided to turn up once a year at 9am on a Sunday morning for the last decade or so!

Once a year? No wonder your nerves are in tatters.

Whilst I can understand the commercial reasons for not wanting to say a thing, I'd hoped for some sort of mention at least.

NI, as so often the case, overshadowing Network with the announcer referencing the fact it was the last time including the intro into the afternoon showing...

The end of an era.

I'd love the BBC to say something like:
"That all from Neighbours here are BBC One, but if you are wondering what happens..."
Then rattle off loads of spoilers

Haha! Laughing I love it.

Or even:

"if you are wondering what happens - then get a life, you sad b*stards."

On second thoughts, that wouldn't get past the censors..... Laughing

P.S. How far behind is Home and Away now - I guess a bit further than Neighbours.

Why do you post "God" at the start of your posts and "P.S." at the end of them?

Neighbours is further behind than Home and Away now due to Neighbours taking a shorter Christmas break and therefore being on air longer in Oz.

lol Sorry - I just find the "God" thing irritating. Wink

I didnt even notice the double line space thing. Smile

Anyway back on topic and I agree that we really couldnt expect the BBC to say anything over the end credits even if it has been there 22 years. We are forgetting the producers sold the show to the highest bidder despite the BBC being loyal to the show for 20+ years and making it the success it it today as if it wasnt for the UK the show would have been axed long ago.

Well it's a shame network BBC One couldn't at least acknowlege the fact it was the last Neighbours. I can see the argument both ways mind. Still i can look forward to watching Neighbours on Monday with an annoying ad break in it and Weight Watchers sponsors everywhere . . . Hurray! Wink Laughing
