It really is the end of an era - ive watched Neighbours on BBC1 (on and off) for 20 years.


Ditto, although its only moving to a new channel it'll be strange.
I've always associated Neighbours with the BBC.

I can't say I will be as commited to it when it goes to Five next week. I'm not saying I was when it was on BBC1 but it just used to flow with the afternoon/evening schedule.

Cue the sarky "You can change the channel you know" comments.

I think it's great that viewers get 5 opportunities to watch Neighbours on Five. 2 on Five Life (19.00 and 09.00) and on Five (13.45, 17.30 and 05.10). I always wanted to watch Neighbours prime time and now I can.

It is true. Blue Peter/Newsround/Neighbours and then the 6 O'Clock News. Next week I'll switch on Five at 5.30pm and then another channel at 6pm. Minus Neighbours, Everybody Hates Chris and I usually catch a bit of the Wright Stuff I don't watch Five at all.

It isn't - at least not for the time being. It's a repeat of the 1:45/5:30 showings on the main channel that day

Firstly I am guessing that this week is not the season Finale on the BBC, I thought that is when the move would happen, so is it a case that Five are buying it off the BBC?

Also this evening in my gym there are a row of TVs and it was weird to watch Neighbours on the BBC and on the next screen five was showing an advert for the same said show...

No the season finale is about 6-8 weeks away I think.

I also watch Neighbours when im in the gym so I hope they have Five on one of the tv's there from next week!

As far as I know the contract wad episode number not season.

It does seem a very strange point for the contract to end though - considering Aussie soaps are effectively made in "seasons", you would have thought any contract would go through to the end of the season.


I know the BBC had input in the production so how would this have been affected by the switch. Did the BBC have people within the Neighbours production team, or is it just a case of a couple of BBC executives having a chat with producers a couple of times a year.
