Voting is now open for the National TV Awards 2006.

As usual, some dodgy things happening...

Firstly, not one nomination for Shameless in drama, actor or actress - yet any old rubbish from the BBC and ITV seems to be nominated, including "newcomers" who have been around a fair few years!

Secondly, a new category - "TV Contender", basically reality TV show contestants with Big Brother's Chantelle, Pete and Nikki amongst the nominations.

Talking of Big Brother, for "Most Popular Reality series" both Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother are nominated, surely splitting the vote! The same thing happens with X Factor and Battle of the Stars in the entertainment category!

Deal or No Deal is nominated for the Best Daytime category - but as it's seen as a daytime show it seems to be overlooked for the overall Game show prize!

Vote at http://nta.itv.com - and vote wisely!

That category is referred to as 'Quiz Show', Deal or No Deal does not qualify as a quiz. As Noel keeps reminding us, it's an 'Entertainment Drama'.

Harry Hill's TV Burp is nominated for best comedy. It won't win of course, it'll be Little Britain

The new TV Condender award also includes Carol Thatcher, Chico, Chris Moyles, Fiona Philips and Shayne Ward

Factual includes Bad Lad's Army, Newcomer is basically Bradley off of EastEnders, Amber from Corrie, Jasmine from Emmerdale, Rhys from Hollyoaks and a load of other ones

Didn't Little Britain lose out in another awards ceremony recently? I think it's had it's day personally. I hope Harry Hill wins of course.

It's seemingly a category for Reality TV contenders. Fiona Philips was in Come Dancing wasn't she ?

Well, it's not nominated in Entertainment or Drama either!

I assume the TV execs have a role in coming up with these nominations considering how clueless they seem to be!
