Is it me or aren't there as many awards this year as before? And the nominations don't seem very good to me... No mention of Chris Tarrant or millionaire! lol!

Millionaire took the first award of the evening didn't it?

Anyway, Shane Ritchie summed the whole awards up: "being most popular doesn't mean being the best".

That's a very good point. I guess people will always vote for their favourites, not the best.

I'm surprised Pop Idol isn't in the 'Best Entertainment' category.

re Trevor McDonald - I'm not exactly sure an event such as this needs any gravitas.

Perhaps being able to deal with drunk female heckling from the back would be more of an advantage.

Well, it is a major award ceremony...

...Ant and Dec with ANOTHER award

Yes, Shane Ritchie is very "en vogue" at the moment isn't he. He's like the new Ant & Dec, winning all these awards everywhere. Laughing

I expect that the voting doesn't bode well for Corrie, oh well I guess Jez will blame it on Inside Soap, and the number of front covers dedicated to Eastenders Laughing

Pop Idol 1 won they award for Best Entertainment Prog last year but Pop Idol 2 didnt start until after voting took place which is why they didnt get nominated this year!

Well it looks very unlikely that Coronation Street will win now. How can Eastenders win so many awards when even hardcore fans admit it has been rubbish this year?! Do you think people at the BBC keep ringing the hotline?

I think it started too late to get shortlisted. It'll probably be there next year.

Yes good point, just think how many staff there are in the BBC and how many telephones. I expect a memo went round telling everyone to ring the Eastenders vote line at least once. LOL Laughing

Did it win last year? You'd think that Corrie staff would keep calling the hotline wouldn't you. I think that they should reveal the number of calls made on the NTA.

Well so is the brits, and they've hosted by a whole load of loonies. Not always badly.

I'm sure somebody could come in and do a much better job than Mr McDonald (Who's popularity is, I'm sure, overestimated)

Reminds me of when people put 'Call 09011 123456 to win a holiday' on websites and it was the Big Brother number!

'Serial Drama' ... not 'Soap' then? Why is it called a 'Soap' anyway?

Oooh... I LOVE foreign presenters. They always speak in such a cool accent! Reminds me of Eurovision! Very Happy

Dont get me started on Inside Soap, we had yet another EE cover today, seriously it is so unfair, why should EE have 90% of the covers when Corrie and Emmerdale are so good.

However for once I cant blame Inside Soap for this as its nowt to do with them LOL Laughing
