Just one question - on the clip of Trevor McDonut reporting on the death of Diana - it had him sitting in the "ITV News" studio with all the lights out - They didn't have that studio that early did they ('97)?

Yeah, very odd. Has anyone got a picture of it they could upload? It looked like a mockup sequence of 'what if Diana had died and we were using the current studio'. Why on earth was it filmed?

Yes that was a bit bizarre. The graphics were also superimposed on top of the picture, because as the camera moved they stayed in the same place. It seemed to be done on the cheap. Perhaps any ITN insiders could help?

I dont understand how people could prefer that fat cow over Suranne Jones - That award was a complete farce. I would have liked Suranne or Katy (Lucy Barlow) to win that award. Katy looked nice tonight dont you think.

Miaow! Evil or Very Mad

I agree, with most people, that Sir Trev deserved that award.

I am furious Evil or Very Mad that our very own Corrie didn't win anything!

Well didn't that evening prove how dire television was in 2003!

Just spell out who 'that type' is.

To put it bluntly, usually working class, without a huge amount of intellect, and usually over the age of 40.

Hope that didn't sound pretentious. Laughing

It proved how dire POPULAR television was in 2003, but there have been some decent programmes elsewhere.

Was it worth spending 2 hours of your life on then ? Were you watching it as a young, intelligent, middle class executive for research purposes ? Laughing

Or was there nothing decent on anywhere else tonight ? Laughing

Would agree with you on that one Whataday.

Also this was a very small straw poll of the British public. Congrats to Trevor though, well deserved.

Can anyone remember last year's final totals, As I remember BBC1 won the most last year, and now this year ITV1 win the most, and suddenly the awards have become a fix that isn't important and only working class people vote!

In hindsight, it wasn't really worth watching as it was very poorly done. However, I chose to watch it mainly because it's live and I like the fact that anything could happen, such as Jessie Wallace getting shoved off the stage by Sir Trevor mid speech.

I've never taken the awards seriously, and neither has much of the TV industry. If the BBC ever win more NTAs, it's a sign of the BBC becoming more downmarket than the NTAs becoming more upmarket.

At least most of the awards are entitled "Most Popular" rather than "Best".

Not to mention Darren Brown and the fiasco with the nominations, and Darren Brown with the all stand up business, you could tell all the nominees were stood there thinking what on earth is he playing at, in fact Darren Brown's appearance should be filed away next to Meg Ryan on Parkinson in what Harry Hill might call "TV Lowlight of the week" Laughing

I wonder why whenever EastEnders is mentioned the audience went crazy but other shows got much lesser cheers each time

Since when did you have the necessary knowledge and authority to state that "industry insiders" don't take the awards seriously? Do you realise how much of a snob you sound?
